I realized that it was up to me to begin a new chat thread...it took me a few times of wondering where I should post "chat" stuff to "get" it OK so now I have and here is the first thing I'm posting...the challenges of living in a zone too cold for the succulents I love! Having to share my living space for the cold months of winter!
"winter storage" for all my bambinos...yes my apartment gets very full in winter!
Thank you @springcolor for these lovely cactus!

They seem happy too Julia! Bev - lucky for me, electricity is cheaper in Seattle (we have Seattle city light - mostly hydro electric!)

It will be interesting to see what the one in the green pot will do over the years. Has some small arms coming up on the sides.

Love your collection Greg. Have you ever thought about adding some little framed mirrors on the walls behind them. Angled out from the top and down the light might not glare back in your eyes, and it would show of the backside of your bambinos and double your collection! Just an idea to maybe play with.
Everything looks so healthy and alive!

Greg, did you hear that...you can "double your collection" thru the use of magical mirrors, said David! That way you don't have to take in any new "boarders"...
Nov 25, 2013 12:58 PM CST
Good idea! haha, yes I have been thinking about mirrors! I have one framed that I was going to paint, and so it sits, off the wall...waiting for me to do something with it!! Someday soon!

Actually it doubles your lighting too and helps the back side. The Dollar tree has a great selection of little framed mirrors in the picture frame area too if you like a collection like look by grouping assorted smaller and larger ones instead of 1 large one, and all for 1 dollar!

the reason electricty and water are so cheap here is that the city owns large parts of the tolt and cedar rivers. They were never devoloped and although previously logged they are basicly wilderness now.
this is the cedar it is the water south of the Ship Canal
the south fork of the tolt river is for north seattle
No cactus in that forest

Tell us about that lake picture Mark? Is that one of yours? WoW!
Even if it isn't;...thanks for sharing it!
It reminds me of the kind of past pristine beauty that was captured in an old 50's movie like "North by Northwest"!

Nope but i thought it was a GOOD photo so i reposted it, it came from this site http://pauldorpat.com/washingt...
North by northwest is one of my fav movies after strangers on a train... for some reason those old movies allways make me want a cocktail and a smoke
this is what the cascades look like by our cabin

Good luck getting your bambinos through the 'off season!' It's the same situation here, though it's supposed to be sunny, usually, even when cold outside. Not today!
