Noticed some green in the empty lot next door & just finished digging up about 200 Lycoris radiata bulbs. Also found several clumps totaling about 100 bulbs of unknown Allium species, a couple smaller clumps of daffs and a lone Gladiolus. If your grass has gone dormant and you live in the south in an older (or just a non-housing-development) neighborhood, there's a good chance you could find some bulbs, just as long as it's OK for you to dig them up. They're very distinct in this area right now. 👀😁😂 - SMILE! -☺😎☻☮👌✌∞☯🐣🐦🐔🐝🍯🐾 The less I interfere, the more balance mother nature provides. 👒🎄👣🏡🍃🍂🌾🌿🍁❦❧ 🍃🍁🍂🌾🌻🌸🌼🌹🌽❀☀🌺 ☕👓 The only way to succeed is to try. |

When I first posted this, I had no idea MORE Lycoris radiata would appear in the lawn next door, but they did. A whole circle/ring of them around where a tree probably used to be. Look at today's haul! This cart is more than half full. There's got to be at least 500 bulbs here. DH doesn't know it yet, but he's going to do a little digging tomorrow. I'm going to have to remove some grass to have a place for all of these. Widening a bed along the fence out front by 1-shovel depth should do it. There's already a row there, but no more space behind them. Then there will be an even more solid, very deep row of them at the front (looking from the street) edge when the bloom. If that can't hold them all, I think we'll remove a strip of grass along the curb, where the mower usually misses anyway. 👀😁😂 - SMILE! -☺😎☻☮👌✌∞☯🐣🐦🐔🐝🍯🐾 The less I interfere, the more balance mother nature provides. 👒🎄👣🏡🍃🍂🌾🌿🍁❦❧ 🍃🍁🍂🌾🌻🌸🌼🌹🌽❀☀🌺 ☕👓 The only way to succeed is to try. |

I just found an established clump of Galanthus with one blooming but lots of green shoots.![]() |

Well that's cool, and I've never heard of them before! Where did you find it? Up where you live, I'd think you *could* find daffs and violets. I wasn't nearly as into bulbs when I lived in OH, but when driving around away from cities, a patch of daffs is often seen where old houses used to be, like next to a still-standing chimney. Ended up discussing these bulbs more in this discussion: The thread "best way to plant lots of bulbs?" in Bulbs forum *Almost* ready to go look for more! 👀😁😂 - SMILE! -☺😎☻☮👌✌∞☯🐣🐦🐔🐝🍯🐾 The less I interfere, the more balance mother nature provides. 👒🎄👣🏡🍃🍂🌾🌿🍁❦❧ 🍃🍁🍂🌾🌻🌸🌼🌹🌽❀☀🌺 ☕👓 The only way to succeed is to try. |

Too early for daffs. Mid Feb. I will start looking. |

TY, I couldn't remember how soon stuff like that starts popping up - up there, or mean to imply they'd be up now, just that those were ones I'd reasonably expect to find if looking at the right time. Imagine my surprise the first winter here when these start blooming around the end of the year. I'm still not clear if they're really early or really late - compared to where I was in 5b - LOL! If you don't want to give away your secret Galanthus spot, that's understandable! That was like asking somebody, "where'd you catch the fish?" Sorry, please forgive! 👀😁😂 - SMILE! -☺😎☻☮👌✌∞☯🐣🐦🐔🐝🍯🐾 The less I interfere, the more balance mother nature provides. 👒🎄👣🏡🍃🍂🌾🌿🍁❦❧ 🍃🍁🍂🌾🌻🌸🌼🌹🌽❀☀🌺 ☕👓 The only way to succeed is to try. |

JoAnn, the bulbs at that link are dangerously tempting! Y'all aren't going to believe this, but, we're moving and I'm moving *most* of the bulbs - again! Everyone I've asked for an opinion about it has agreed, they'll probably go back to being lost in mowed lawn if left here. Here's a list of bulbs I've found over the past few years, and will now be moving... Amaryllis - red, found the first year I lived here Lycoris radiata (red spider lily) Daffodil Allium Oxalis (pink) Crinum (haven't bloomed yet..., just guessing this is what they are) Gladiolus Liriope (not technically a bulb I think, but found huge chunks of it in the lawn) Before mowing the first time (for those who haven't yet,) now is also a good time to check for bulbs foliage among the grass. 👀😁😂 - SMILE! -☺😎☻☮👌✌∞☯🐣🐦🐔🐝🍯🐾 The less I interfere, the more balance mother nature provides. 👒🎄👣🏡🍃🍂🌾🌿🍁❦❧ 🍃🍁🍂🌾🌻🌸🌼🌹🌽❀☀🌺 ☕👓 The only way to succeed is to try. |

I'd prefer south, but east is OK. Anything but north or west! LOL! Well, it took about 20 trips in the trunk of my car. I would dig up bulbs, shake off the dirt, pile in buckets, drive them over to Mom's house when the trunk was full. I don't know how many bulbs I moved, but definitely thousands. I did end up leaving enough that the flower beds still have lots of flowers in them. It was enough already, and time to pack. Also moved a lot of other bulbs that weren't found, but bought or gained in trades, like elephant ears (Colocasia esculenta,) Bletilla, Cannas. Has anyone else found any bulbs? 👀😁😂 - SMILE! -☺😎☻☮👌✌∞☯🐣🐦🐔🐝🍯🐾 The less I interfere, the more balance mother nature provides. 👒🎄👣🏡🍃🍂🌾🌿🍁❦❧ 🍃🍁🍂🌾🌻🌸🌼🌹🌽❀☀🌺 ☕👓 The only way to succeed is to try. |

I took some pics yesterday, *all* of the 'green stuff' (that's not a shrub) is bulbs that I moved in April. Narcissus, Lycoris & Oxalis. Other stuff is sleeping for winter. All kind of looks the same, but is different spots. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This one's a whole fat row of Lycoris. I don't usually do rows, but this straight line is already there. This needs bricks or a landscape timber on the grass side. ![]() 👀😁😂 - SMILE! -☺😎☻☮👌✌∞☯🐣🐦🐔🐝🍯🐾 The less I interfere, the more balance mother nature provides. 👒🎄👣🏡🍃🍂🌾🌿🍁❦❧ 🍃🍁🍂🌾🌻🌸🌼🌹🌽❀☀🌺 ☕👓 The only way to succeed is to try. |
