Birds are hungry in the winter, too! Great idea! Life is short, Break the rules, Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly, Love Truly, Laugh uncontrollably, And never regret anything that made you Smile. |

BTW: I'm having a real WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT reaction to this one! ![]() I gave up Christmas trees in 1991 - I chose cats over a tree. ![]() OUTSIDE, it'd be ok if a neighborhood kitty knocked it over - no family heirloom ornaments to break! Good idea! Thanks for sharing this. We have at least two feeders and one suet block hanging from an apple tree out back. They are really having a feast today with the heavy snow here! These pictures from last March. Again, Thanks. ![]() ![]() ![]() Lux Umbra Dei Even a fool, when he holds his peace, is counted (as being) wise.Proverbs 17:28 |

We did this last year once we took down our inside tree. I got to enjoy seeing my birds use it the rest of winter. Such a fun idea. Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. |

I'm still obsessing on this idea. Here's an addition I'll be making: http://www.outdoorsolarstore.c... SHOW ME YOUR CRITTERS! I have a critter page over at Cubits. http://cubits.org/crittergarde... |

Thanks to everyone for the thumbs and acorns! Hope some of you enjoy your own bird tree. As PlantinThings noted, it works to leave the tree up for several months into the winter - ours usually doesn't dry out at all due to all the rain we get. I do take the lights off when it's time to pack up the holiday, but continue to toss popcorn and birdseed into the branches on a regular basis. CritterGarden, let us know how the solar lights work out. Good idea if there is not a plug-in handy. I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned. |
