Fred, the pictures posted by Michele showed a daylily without a growth leader. Fans spreading right and left, but nothing in the center. She made some comments that I interpreted to indicate that the lack of a "lead" growth would indicate dormancy during the winter. I endorse that completely. The first time that happened, I thought I had lost the plant.

I've been obsessed with baking multiple types of cookies (including peppermint marshmallows) for MULTIPLE cookie trays. That is done and they are gone! Now I'm baking dog treats and I'm not a dog lover, but these are for our niece's dogs---chocolate labs. These treats are their Christmas presents, and the last set of treats just got out of the oven smelling like peanut cookies.

Anyway, I'm still dithering about removing SYMPHONY OF PRAISE. A friend gave me an offspring of her, and it hasn't grown either. Everyone else out there looks great!!!

Fred, I'm looking forward to the shipment. Dianne has been a friend for 20 yr. She is stressing now, but I think everything will turn out right. I still hold her hand. Tight. Sometimes that's all she needs.

Thanks for the exclamation about "lead" there is no such word used in the daylily dictionary so that had some of us confused. I also use the word "leaves" sometimes when I should be saying foliage. All who are new to daylilies, below is a link to a daylily image and from there you can go to the full dictionary.

I really hadn't noticed that growth leader in dormants. Will check this spring.
