Hi guys. My name is Joe and I'm just introducing myself to the board. I'm a 30 year old male from Long Island NY. I have been interested in lilies for about 5 years since I saw a tall asiatic lily that my mom had growing in her garden. Ever since then I've been gradually building my love for these great flowers. I am a first year member of NALS and have been studying lilies for a few years now. I now have over 60 varieties on my property and have been doing some very amateur hybridyzing for 2 years now and have some epigeal seedling under lights in my garage as we speak. I look foward to learning from all and contributing to this forum. - Joe I pretty much copied this from my first post in the yahoo lily group from a few weeks ago, so sorry for the repeat if there are any dual members. I was directed here by someone who goes by "Interspecific" on a gardenweb forum so I thank that person for the suggestion. I've been snooping here for a week and love the site. |

Hi and welcome to the Lilies Forum at ATP, Joe! I did see your post on the yahoo group. There are at least a few of us here who belong to both groups. It is nice to have another seed starter with us! Now that you are a member of NALS you will have access to the seed exchange which usually starts in March or April, depending when the seed chairmen have it ready. It is a way to have access to interesting crosses even if you don't have the parent plants. I think you will find this site much more active than gardenweb and the programming architecture of the forums here is far superior and user friendly. While you learn to navigate around All things Plants, you will find that the "Site Talk" forum is a good place to ask general questions about using the site: http://garden.org/forums/view/... We hope you can take photos of your lilies next summer and post them here. |

Hi Joe and welcome to ATP. Where do you live on Long Island? We're way out on the North Fork, in Southold - snowy Southold today but it's melting fast. |
