Evergreen trees are good for protecting bird feeders from predators and wind. After the holidays, recycle your old Christmas tree to help the birds.

Christmas trees are sometimes put on beaches and anchored down to trap sand to slowly rebuild damaged dunes and banks. The sand slowly covers the tree, and dune grasses can be planted on top to hold down the sand.
