These photo's were taken in the San Diego, Ca area in mid August I can't remember the exact location but it may have been the Point Loma area. At first I thought one was Encelia farinosa but I don't think that's it. Anyone recognize these?![]() ![]() ~ Playing in the dirt is my therapy ... and I'm in therapy a lot! ~ |

@Metrosideros Hi Dave ... I could use some help identifying these, any ideas? ~ Playing in the dirt is my therapy ... and I'm in therapy a lot! ~ |
I think you might have misspelled his username. He is @Metrosideros |

Thanks Dave .... I should have proofread my typing before sending. :) edited to add: I am inside the house where it's warm but I could use the excuse that it's downright cold here and my arthritis is acting up ... it's currently 39ºF! Hey Lin, maybe an extra jacket, some nice thick socks? Wish the seeds were available. Maybe a Bidens. Such as Bidens ferulifolia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B... http://www.smgrowers.com/produ... http://www.provenwinners.com/p... |

Thanks Dave! My first thought for the plant in the first photo was maybe Encelia californica, or possibly Tagetes or Bidens of some sort but after looking at hundreds of photo's I can't decide. I think the second photo may be Bidens. The flowers in the first photo seem to have many more petals per bloom: ![]() ~ Playing in the dirt is my therapy ... and I'm in therapy a lot! ~ |

I would agree that the second photo is Bidens, but not this one. |

The first one looks like Delosperma Nubigenum. No? Karen |

Nope, not Delosperma; at least I don't think that's it. I wish I had taken photo's of leaves. :( ~ Playing in the dirt is my therapy ... and I'm in therapy a lot! ~ |

The flowers in the first photo only have five "petals" that look like ray flowers to me. (It's a bit blurry when I zoom in.) This would put it in the Compositae (Asteraceae) family. The second is also in the Compositae family. Sorry I can't be of any more help. |
