We came from here: The thread "February 2014 Butterflies, Moths & Larva" in Gardening for Butterflies, Birds and Bees forum

I would have done this sooner but ATP kept freezing up on me. Anyone else have that problem?

First, I have to issue a correction. Those were not Cloudless Sulphur caterpillars I posted, they were Orange-Barred Sulphurs. I can't believe I made such a rookie mistake and no one called me out on it! To be fair, the smaller cat was a little ambiguous, but the larger one clearly had the Orange-Barred Sulphur pattern. They both went to the museum today. And speaking of MOSI, here's some pictures!

Thanks for the new thread Melanie! I'm glad you said something about Chrome having trouble loading ATP. I have Chrome & have had trouble for days with this. But I have also been having computer problems in general so it was hard to tell which was causing the problem. Just now, it's working much better so I will have to see if this trend of working better continues. I really, really want to install Firefox but am hesitant when I'm having OS problems. Why don't I just take it in & get it fixed? I'm stubborn & a procrastinator that's why. Hilarious! Hilarious! I keep thinking I can work this problem out myself; at least I keep trying to.

I love fire fox-- I find it more user friendly.

I'm still having problems with viewing ATP in Chrome so I'm using Internet Explorer right now and it seems to be fine. I wonder what's going on?

I don't know. I still have IE7 & haven't downloaded IE9 or is it 10? I have Vista & there are things you just can't do so not sure which IE I can migrate to. HATE IE & never use it but it's required to be on the machine for windows.

I may just have to bite the bullet & go to Windows 8.1 sigh.

I periodically have trouble loading ATP with Internet Explorer. This morning it happened.

Gleni said:I periodically have trouble loading ATP with Internet Explorer. This morning it happened.

Glen, that's quite common for IE. So many have fought the notion & then finally ended up installing Firefox & been soooooooo happy they did. Think about it. You won't believe what it will do for your ATP experience.

Linda, thanks for the ID.

Very cool. That Buckeye type seems to have more blue than most seen up here. What I've seen here has the blue tint more at the top of the wings (I think), I'll have to consult my pics to verify. But anyway, enjoyed viewing yours.

Most I've seen are without any blue tinting, but every once in a while, the blue hued are noted.

I thought the same thing about the Buckeye. You really only see the blue on ours when they first emerge; it fades pretty quickly. So I'm thinking the Argentine version is a cousin, perhaps? Also, I wonder if there are different species of Buckeye in Argentina because the first picture of one she posted (possibly last month's thread) had no blue where this one seems very blue. We need an international expert on this forum!

The most common here is the one with the blue wing. From time to time I see someone like the one I posted first, but I don't know if they aré diferentes species.
