swan island in oregon have a wide assortment and most people seem to like them. It may be getting a little late to get your order in, though. |

The American Dahlia Association publishes the “Big List” They list a large number of dahlias and where they are available. Very useful. At the beginning of the dahlia list is a list of suppliers with clickable links. I believe that all of the suppliers listed are members of the ADS & are mostly reliable. at http://dahlias.net/dbiglist.ht... ![]() |

By mid February, when I was calling six nurseries for dahlias, some were out of two varieties I wanted, another was out of one. That was a month ago so by now many more will have sold out and Accent Dahlias has "sold out for 2014" on their home page. |

I've had great success with dahlias from Brent and Becky's Bulbs, and it looks like they have some left to choose from. |

Does anyone think it might be useful to have a "sticky" with recommendations for dahlia sources in this forum? Since the current Recommendations area of the site isn't plant specific? Just a thought. Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid. |

Well come to think of it probably all forums should have that. This is a brand new forum, Dave created it back in December. There is no Moderator yet and we have no way of creating a sticky. So we are just posting our favorite places here. LOL. Mine is Swan Island, they have a great website, gorgeous pictures to get you very excited. The prices are good and tubers are freshly dug and mailed in dry medium like peat moss. They have all the tubers in the same bag and they write or stamp the names on each one. I love this company!! Thanks for reminding me I need to do a recommendation, but not tonight. Here is one picture you can ![]() ![]() The thread "Welcome to the Dahlias forum!" in Dahlias forum Susan In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.....Margaret Atwood |

Hmmm, well if there's no moderator, maybe we could nudge @dave to make that "sticky" here? I know he plans to make changes to the Recommendations feature, but till then, a sticky for good sources on the plant specific forums seems like a good idea to me! Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid. |

I do not think he likes stickies. LOL. Besides they would get old and companies go out of business, links expire, etc. I do like that everything is current here. I have seen stickies get out of hand and when you come to a forum and ask a question they tell you to go read sticky #3. LOL, are they kidding? I could google it in 3 seconds and no way am I going to read through a sticky. What kinda changes is he making? ![]() Susan In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.....Margaret Atwood |

Not sure. There have been requests for things like vendor locations and what sort of plants they specialize in. Seems to me there have been a couple of different discussions; that's where Dave mentioned that he did have plans to make some changes to the Recommendations area, but I don't think it's a priority at this point. Heh, "nudge." Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid. |

I, too , found Swan Island first class in their tubers and their condition. I have no experience of any other USA suppliers, but there are a few European ones I can advise you to avoid. Peter |

I added them to my recommendations if you would like to give them a plug. ![]() Susan In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.....Margaret Atwood |
