It's my fav in the garden for stripeyness. The 'Lady Diana' and 'Toronto' stripes are not as distinct or as dark. I will post of pic of their foliage so you can see them too. http://cubits.org/DahlianutsDi... Share the Joy |

Here's a comparison of the 'Chopin' and a mix of 'Lady Diana' and 'Toronto'. Lady Di and Toronto are stripey but not as bold. Chopin ![]() Lady Diana and Toronto ![]() http://cubits.org/DahlianutsDi... Share the Joy |

I luv these little guys. Blooms only last one day so you have to be quick to catch one. To me they look more like a species tulip than a crocus. I need to look up their name cuz I forget ![]() ![]() One of my favs is the little eranthis hyemalis (winter aconite) The flower buds are the first thing to emerge from the ground followed by the foliage. Very cheerfull little guys ![]() ![]() http://cubits.org/DahlianutsDi... Share the Joy |

Kelly I want to get more of the winter aconite cuz they are so cute. How VERY EXCITING dear Brenda! The bluebells, chionadoxa and primula are next here. The striped squill are blooming in one spot. A couple of my species clemmies have leaf buds. Did you lose anything this winter do you think? I can't remember if you are trying blueberrys? I ordered a dwarf blueberry 'Top Hat' to grow in a container that I'm VERY EXCITED about. Methinks I can create acidic conditions in the pot and then put the whole kit 'n caboodle in the dahlia patch to over winter. http://cubits.org/DahlianutsDi... Share the Joy |

We don't have blueberries... we tried a couple of years ago, but (my bad...), I had Tony put a bunch of sheep compost/manure in with them, which promptly burned them to death. ![]() I think your plan sounds great! Today I hope to pot up some dahlia bulbs (bulbs or tubers??). I'm hoping we didn't lose anything, but it's too soon to tell. My potted wisteria has made it through winters past, but I have yet to see new growth. Don't know about my potted mystery vine (I can't remember what it is now... trumpet vine or crepe myrtle???). That one was not happy at the end of last season, so I don't know if it will come back. Everything else is looking good! |
