Wow! That is a fabulous color on a plumeria. Excellent. I wish it would rain and break the humidity here, it is starting to build up and although I had to turn on the windshield wipers for a few minutes coming home last night, it wasn't enough to lower it. This is the hottest, and most humid season for us and although it has really not been as bad as it can get, it is getting there. A day without sunshine is like, you know, night. |

I absolutely love your pictures. A few I got from a mutual friend of our and some are sending up bloom spikes. I was disappointed to find some had died. ![]() I will enjoy the ones I have very much and hope to add more as some become available. 2 of the cuttings that died were red *double ![]() ![]() |

That's a real beauty. I love the shading between the colors, like a gorgeous sunset. ![]() A day without sunshine is like, you know, night. |

It seems that the blooms in the spring are slightly darker than later blooms, I wonder if that is my imagination or if it is true?![]() I'm very happy that the months when I have to spend the most time standing under my plumeria and watering them are the same months when they are in full bloom. The fragrance is heavenly. By summer when the rains come, the number of blooms will be less and I won't be watering every other day. A day without sunshine is like, you know, night. |

Wow that red is amazing |

Jonna there is definitely a color difference but my experience is that in the mid summer heat the color is most intense. Example (both pictures are of the same tree): flower color in November ![]() flower color in August ![]() |

That's really amazing, Hetty. These look like two completely different varieties. I have never seen this kind of difference, but then, I grow so few compared to you. drdawg (Ken Ramsey) - Tropical Plants & More http://www.tropicalplantsandmo... well, then it could be the heat that is doing it. April and May are the hottest months here, mostly because the rains when they start in June cool it off. We've had a lot of days over 100°F in the last month. A day without sunshine is like, you know, night. |
Dutchlady1 Apr 21, 2014 2:03 PM CST |
Oh wow I had no idea you got that hot this early. It's a balmy 82 here... |
extranjera Apr 21, 2014 2:06 PM CST |
I'm not really complaining, it is much nicer this spring than last year. The humidity is staying under 70% and it is mostly cooling off into the 70's at night. It is the time of year that many people plan their vacations, a good time to travel elsewhere. A day without sunshine is like, you know, night. |
