Dave, can we have a forum dedicated to fuchsias, please? I'm sure there is enough interest in them. We enjoy discussing them in the Pacific Coast Gardening Forum, but most of the site members wouldn't go to that forum.

Zuzu is right. I love them and have some but would never have known people discuss it unless Zuzu mentioned it.

I, for one, like having the forum just because I can look at it to find out how to spell the darn name! Get it wrong every time. Grumbling

Mike, you don't have room for fuchsias, do you?

I started getting interested in shrub fuchsias with the posts from 'pedrick's corner'.....I just hadn't been able to act on it at the time.

Woofie, it helps if you forget the English pronunciation of the word (FEW-sha). In Germany and Russia, it's pronounced FOOK-see-ya (that also used to be the preferred English pronunciation, but it fell out of use). It's easy to figure out the right spelling from the German pronunciation.

Ha. Always thought the English pronunciation didn't make any sense. Hummph. Probably some idiot thought the correct pronunciation sounded naughty. Rolling my eyes. Don't get me started. English corruptions of foreign words make my teeth grind. Angry

Sheri: yes I have room for fuchsias. I have four in the ground and a few in hanging wooden boxes. There used to be a really good fuchsia grower in Leucadia but I think it's gone now. (Stubbs ???)

Zu: Aren't fuchsias named after someone named Fuchs ???

Don't you mean American corruptions?

Don't know about the Leucadia grower, Mike...I wasn't interested in them at that time. When I was young I had an aunt who raised fuchsias and budgies, that was her whole life, I swear and I thought the only fuchsias were hanging ones. I like the shrubs...
