Foliage Can Carry the Show

By springcolor

Flowers are gorgeous but they can be here today and gone tomorrow. Foliage however, can carry the show 24/7 and throughout the growing season.

Since I have mostly shade I am using more and more colorful foliage to brighten up my corners.

Love so many of the above combinations. Especially the one in the middle of the third row, but I love them all. Lovey dubby Lovey dubby

Thanks for some great ideas for this year too. Hurray! Hurray!

Same here! Foliage is especially good in the shade. What is the plant with green leaves with maroon chevron in the top row middle? I have that but have no idea what it is

Thank you! I am a big fan of persicaria. I love this "Red Dragon"
It turns more green as it matures

I have Red Dragon as well, gets so big though but ,worth it for all the color it gives. Mine gets 6 feet tall by 5 feet wide, the Painters Pallet stays small. Also have a small groundcover persicaria don't know the name (given to me) but is really spreading. Glad it's in a contained smaller garden.

Oh my! I guess the harsher conditions here keep mine less than 3 ft. My painter's palette in shade. I think maybe it will do better with a little sun

Vickie,
I love that geranium too, It's either Tricolor or Mrs. Pollock. Not much difference between this two in my eyes, they booth bloom orange. Tricolor is in every nursery around here. Also they don't seem to bloom as much as a regular zonal.
