These are relatively new gardens, only 4 years old...some parts far newer.

Ursula, love your Before the Storm. My bearded iris were just beginning to bloom when we left for FL. Haven't seen my Before the Storm bloom in a couple of years but I am enjoying yours!

sandnsea2, Thanks, you have done a lot in 4 years. I struggle to keep a few orchids alive inside, but do better outside. I mostly just go up and see Boojums for my orchid fix. Patti

Thanks, Carol. The foxgloves were direct seeded and surprised me.
Thanks, Patti. Yes, I am tired from all we have planted in 4 years.
It was a pretty clean slate when we arrived. Not to mention all the trees and shrubs we had put in.
This year I can rest, at last. Now it is just a matter of moving things around.
I jammed in all the things I just can't live without (a rather long list, I am afraid.). Hilarious! And sowed so many seeds that I can't remember what is coming up till it blooms, sometimes.
The other problem is, I am not from the South, thus unfamiliar with the native weeds. So I am sure I have pulled out some nice plants I thought were weeds, and vice versa!

Thanks, Kathy and Ursula.
It is a fun thing.
The English Cottage garden style makes it easy.
If you get a chance to see this British book ......English Cottage Gardens by Ethne Clarke & Clay Perry.
It is the very best, mind boggling photography.
