I just saw a news flash, 8 million dollars of federal money to be spent on sowing wild flowers. That is just the start. Why? To help the honey bees so they will be able to continue to pollinate the crops. So I think even the early gardeners knew that having flowers around was one way to help grow the crops, flowers are pretty and fun, but they also serve a useful purpose. Still, I grown the crops just to justify the flowers!

That's a lot of money to spend on something that I think a lot of gardeners and nature conservationist would happily do on a volunteer basis. Did you see a list of what wildflowers they're talking about? The thing is....honeybees are NOT native to North America, so I would think that "wildflowers" that support them would be non-native species that came over from Europe as well. Hm....I've always wanted an English Meadow...this may be my chance! (Do you think they'd give me a couple million to do that? Cause that would be really nice of them.)
The end is nothing, the journey is all.

Spending millions is a lot of money for flowers, the federal government can probably plant up to 1/2 acre with that amount.

ha! I could get at LEAST 2 acres out of that kind of $$.

The thing is, by the time they do site surveys, and satellite mapping, and run a million soil tests, and then get the opinions of all the experts and the people who may be Impacted by this.... Ah heck. Give a bag of seeds to every person who wants one and point them to the open road. It would be done just as well and a lot cheaper.
The end is nothing, the journey is all.
