Anyone know how nice the irises are or do they just send a bunch of purple and yellow ones.

http://www.localharvest.org/iris-mix-grab-bag-C20754

I am wanting just a decent mixed box of irises to finish off a long line that have a daylily then 6 feet of Iris then a daylily and then 6 feet of Iris and so forth, close to 50 meters in length.I have like 3 or four six feet sections to go,I have all the daylilies I will need.

So if you know of a good deal and reputable seller let me know and thanks.

Well, most places like that just send you what ever isn't selling, and it might be a lot of the same thing. You never know, as it's their choice to what they put in there. I sell grab bags at my iris sale, 10 varieties of my choice, not identified, in a bag for $15. I always make sure that there are at least 10 different varieties in the bag, sometimes more, and often more then one of a kind. It's my way of finding homes for the extra ones I have and charging just enough to make sure that they take them home and plant them. Many times these customers come back as they were very pleased with what they got, and sometimes they start wanting identified ones. I had to limit it to one grab bag per customer, as I had a couple who were taking them to the farmers market and selling them for $5. each when I was charging$15. for 20 irises.

The forum has a 'sticky' thread with a list of recommended vendors.
The thread "Vendor list" in Irises forum

I have used Local Harvest vendors in the past, but I don't know that there is any kind of pre-sales vetting process to determine if a vendor is reliable

mamajack is selling a mixed lot of Bearded Iris on Cubits from her place @ 30 rhizomes for $19 shipping included. She is a friend of mine and I took photographs this Spring of the ones she is selling when they were in bloom. No guarantee of which ones you will get, but, friendship aside, I know she is reliable. If you look at the thread, you will see several ATP member IDs to ask them--in case I come across as a shill for her. Hilarious!

Some of the ones she is digging up:

I happen to have about a flat-rate box quantity of Irises that I dug from along my fenceline this summer. I put them out by the road with a sign *Free Irises* -- and no one took them. I can't tell you what-all is there because they didn't bloom this year. But I did have an assortment of colors out there originally, so assume that these would be an assortment of colors.

You're welcome to have them for the cost of shipping, if you're interested. To guard against having all the same Irises in one location, I'd buy assortments from several locations and then some from each in each section. You're bound to have mixed colors that way.

Wild Iris Rows is at the end of their season, so they have the Wild Iris Bunch, which is 20 iris for $40 plus $10 shipping. They promise an assortment of colors. The iris I got from them this year were really healthy, and the gave two for any rhizome they thought was "small". Also gave a lot of bonus ones, so you may get a good assortment through them. http://www.wildirisrows.com/
