No, the comment would live only on the parent plant.

An alternative to Roots could be Underground structure, with a scroll-over noting Roots, Rhizome, Taproot, Corm, Bulb, Tuber. This would coincide with the current set of datapoints.

Underground structures:
Rhizome
Taproot
Corm
Bulb
Tuber

@dave

Can you set the search so that if one was looking at Salvias, for instance, they could search by.....

farinacea
or
greggii

and so on. I just tried and the feature is not there.

Thanks!

I might not understand your question.

If you type "Salvia farinacea" into the search dialog of the main plant database page, it brings up a list of all Salvia farinacea

??

Rick

Where do you type in Salvia farinacea, for instance? On the main db page or on the Salvia db page? And where (what section or line) does it go?

In either search box on the main database page or in the blue sidebar search box everywhere in the database.

The main db page. Let's see if I can get an arrow into the image:

Yeah, here:
Thumb of 2014-09-04/RickCorey/b88d9a

Or here:

Thumb of 2014-09-04/RickCorey/369f23

I find the "free form" search uncomfortable, though it iS easier than HAVING to know which name is a genus, or species, or cultivar name.

Thanks Evan and Rick! I tip my hat to you. Thumbs up

And it will produce all the Salvia farinacea varieties in the db?! *Blush* Hurray! I should have known that. Maybe it is the high heat we've been having that's getting to me. Whistling

Once you've started thinking "complex", all simple solutions become invisible. I have that problem all the time.
