![]() By NEILMUIR1 | A house called the Rookery was here on this site with a spa, but when the spa declined in popularity the Rookery's formal gardens and spa were bought and turned into a public garden. It was the local people, who bought the land for £3,000, that saved this astonishing place. A three-acre garden was built, including a water garden, formal gardens, a stunning white garden, herbaceous borders, an English garden, fantastic trees, ponds, and much more. Let me take you on a walk around this tiered and secret garden.

What a beautiful secret garden ![]() The stone work and stone and brick work of the steps is really cool too. I've tried to grow sea holly for years and can't get it to grow here. Thank you Neil, for sharing more of your beautiful country. Dear Barbara, thank you for your most kind comments. It is a wonderful place and is much loved by Gardeners and Artists, or by those who just like a bit of peace and quiet! It has a very nice Cafe at the top that does Italian food, Ice cream and coffee. Or you can take your own food, and just sit listening to the birds sing, as the world goes by. I hope to see you in part 2 when we go into the water Gardens. Kindest Regards. Neil. |

Dear Vicki, an absolute pleasure and a treat for me to walk around such a lovely place. It brought back some lovely memories as well for me. It is lovely to have a secret place of that beauty to just stroll round or just to sit in, we are very lucky indeed. Kindest Regards. Neil. |

Dear Lucy, there are plenty of quiet and relaxing places to sit in this Garden. Even in the water Garden in Part 2 there are seats you can sit and have a sandwich or whatever, and just listen to the water and the birds. what more could you want? Thank you for your comments. Regards. Neil. |
