When the rain abates I will go out and snap some August flowers. Mostly lilies and sedum and dahlias.

Rain? I've forgotten what rain looks like. Such a warm summer with 80 F have necessitated buying some summer clothes Rolling on the floor laughing Some of my late blooming perennials aren't doing as well as most years because I am not used to watering.

So busy watering here it was nice to see the rain and cool off. Love the late flowers. What is the 2nd picture? An Anenone? I just bought a new one called Pocahontas like yours with the double petals.

Last of the daylilies . They were nice this year with the warm nights.
My hanging containers were a bust this year. I'm going to have to look for good combinations ideas next year to copy.

Couple of my sempervivums with a bit of color. Soon as the cool nights hit they will start tuning colors again. The heat is hard on these guys.

Jewell, what is that last photo you posted? Looks like a Malva of some sort?

Julia, your mystery plant looks like Variegated Water Figwort (Scrophularia auriculata 'Variegata') to me. I recognize the teeny little flowers, which are hummingbird magnets in my garden.

Woolfie, the plant is a Malva sylvestris 'Zebrina' (Dwarf Hollyhock), and is an annual. Once you have the seeds you have the plant forever.

Looks much nicer than the Malva sylvestris I grew a few years back, but they weren't that particular cultivar. Very nice! And yeah, hollyhocks and their ilk are like that! I'm still fighting them after 10 years!

None of my hanging baskets have don great this year. The first one has been a favorite but, the fuchsia need to be pinched more! The others the center croaked for some reason. Next year!!

The yard feels very messy as I have done pruning and moved phlox that were encroaching into the paths. Also moved a mass of mini bearded iris. The front ivy hedges got there severe cut back in the front yard. The summer heathers are about finished blooming.

There are a few different yellow flowers blooming, squash, calendula, nasturtiums, rebeckia, false sunflowers and real ones too.

Then there are the fall crocus and anenomes with a second bloom of clematis and the obedient plant

It has been a great summer for winter squash. Most will be going to the food bank since I am more into growing it than we are into eating it. The butternut has certainly been sweet and savory basted with olive oil and roasted on the grill. I have been careful harvesting so that the turbans can finish maturing and hardening off and the bees can continue to coat themselves in pollen. I have seen as many as five to a blossom in the afternoon.

It looks like the tomatoes are going to continue ripening until Thanksgiving. We have been having them and cukes everyday for one or more meals.

What's with the sunflowers though? I planted a mixed seed pack behind the Hugelkultur. They vary in height from 2-25 feet tall. Crazy!

Cut a tree down here this spring and I removed a big viburnum. Replacing with plants that have more than one season of color.
