Just purchase seeds of deppea splendens of e-bay and receive few days ago. They were so tiny it is hard to only drop one seed each cell. I ended up sowing all of the seeds hoping few will germinate. Hoping some members here has or grow this type of plant and can share some photo of a seedling's what it look like. Keeping my fingers cross I am actually growing the real Deppea splendens. Thank you. |

Cora, here's the only entry in our database for this plant. There's no info and just the one picture. Sounds like it's not a common plant! In any case, if your seeds germinate, and grow at least you'll be able to compare the foliage to the picture, and eventually the flower. Elaine, thank you. I did get response at Dave's forum from the person that did grow this seeds though. |
I hope it grows for you! I always wanted one after seeing at the Berkeley Botanical Gardens but didn't have room for something that big at the time nor did I want to try to keep it alive during winter (my zone 9b at the time wouldn't have cut it) since it originated in the frost free cloud forest in the mountains of Chiapas, Mexico. In the Berkeley, they had it growing in a protected area under trees. I added a few details to the entry. |
