A customer brought this in and I don't know what it is. it was found in Rancho Cucamonga, California growing on a trellis. Can you identify it? the leaves are non serrated, medium green in color and about 2" long at maturity. Thanks, Beth

It's really hard to tell ... any idea of bloom time or flower color? Hopefully one of our members in California will possibly recognize those leaves and have some suggestions.
I found this photo in the database but it's just a wild guess because I'm not good at comparing photo's.

Not much to go by but I will take a stab at it.

I just went around the yard looking at several of my vines (I tend to grow the ones that are more common to So Cal). I don't believe it is one of jasmines or faux jasmines (all of the ones I have are either more hooked or more pointed at the end) and I was able to rule out several other vines. But .... the leaves are similar to both my honeysuckle and to my mandevilles. Is there any chance that he/she planted either one?

It reminds me of Hogwort (Croton capitatus) but that's not a vine.

@BlondieRides, just wondering. Did your customer indicate why she was interested in this plant she found growing on a trellis?
Did she like the shape? How tall was it? Were there flowers; if so, what color? Does she have a cell phone so she could take a pic of the entire plant?
Thank You!

(Note: Using the word 'she' as a generic for the customer mentioned; yep, it could be a 'he'. Thumbs up )

I thank all of you for helping. My back went out on me today so I missed a day at work and could not follow up with the customer. I work at the West Cocina, CA Home Depot in the garden department. I will call her tomorrow and ask your questions.

She said there were no flowers on the vine. She liked the leaf structure and look of the Vineland wants to plant them at her home. She gave me the address where they are growing so perhaps I'll swing by and take a look... With my camera, of course:-)

Thanks again for the effort. I think I'm going to enjoy being part of your group.

Mandevilla I think. Maybe hirsuta? The photo is a little fuzzy though.

As the honeysuckle are still blooming in the valley (although at the end of their cycle) my best guess would be a mandeville. If you can see any remnants of flowers, though, that sure would help Smiling
