I hope everyone in Napa, Napa Iris, and the Bay Area is ok after this mornings earthquake! Barbara |

I second that Barbara! I hope everyone made it through that o.k. It's not enough that they are experiencing a severe drought now they have to deal with an earthquake too. Prayers for the west coast folks! My mind is made up, don't confuse me with facts. |

I slept through it,but I'm estimating that we're 80 or 90 miles away from the epicenter. "Garden as though you will live forever" - William Kent, English landscape architect. |

May those closest to the quake recover quickly from this. My heart goes out to those who suffered injuries and property damages. ![]() No damages here, but it sure did wake me up. Instead of the usual jerky shaking quakes we get, this one had a rolling feel to it. It seemed to last a long time and it felt like I was on a boat. |
We are about 50 miles away, woke us out of sound sleep. We have friends over there, lots of clean-up going on the next few days. As of last night, repairs were done to 20 of the 60 water main breaks. Gas mains are also being repaired with crews working overtime. |

Anyone know if NAPA irises are OK? I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion. - Alexander the Great |
They are probably doing cleanup inside like all the other residents. Maybe they will add an update on their site eventually. |

An important place in my life. Hope to go back at some point. |

I emailed NAPA to ask, received this response today: We're fine here. We were far enough away from the epicenter to not have any damage - just a few pictures fell. It certainly woke us up though. Downtown Napa and some of the wineries suffered quite a bit of damage as far as we can tell. Thanks John & Lesley Moderation in all things…except chocolate, coffee...and potato chips. |

That's good to know, Thanks Debra for checking on them. Now if our wind has some extra bubbles, we'll know it's been shaken a bit! ![]() I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion. - Alexander the Great |

I noticed in the news that they are already assuring everyone that it won't raise the price of wine. Hope the wineries are okay with that since they probably have some pricey repairs to deal with. It didn't actually collapse and, from the photograph, the roof line looks intact. Hopeful they can repair. Moderation in all things…except chocolate, coffee...and potato chips. |

Oh man -- I'd hate to be the one paying for that repair!!!! Thoughts become things -- choose the good ones. (www.tut.com) |

If it doesn't get braced soon, it may still collapse. There is a major weight shift to that front buckled wall. I bet they are stressed. My road calls me, lures me west, east, south & north; most roads lead men homewards, my road leads me forth. - John Masefield |

Article from yesterday says they have structural engineers assessing whether it can be repaired. Moderation in all things…except chocolate, coffee...and potato chips. |

That will be a big job. I hope they can for the historical significance, but it will be tricky to upright without some loss. My road calls me, lures me west, east, south & north; most roads lead men homewards, my road leads me forth. - John Masefield |

I like Trefethen wines.. That's a bummer for them... We play at a couple of wineries, and I get more wine than I can drink. I'm accumulating quite a stash. I still have more Iris though. When counting, try not to mix chickens with blessings. |
