|Hi I'm Kate and not surprisingly I'm in the UK - South Wales to be exact. I'm not new to ATP but I am new to Coleus. I found some reduced in a local DIY store (B&Q) and fell in love with the beautiful leaves startight away! I have Chocolate cherry and Watermelon varieties. |
Is there anyone else from the UK (or in a similar growing zone) who can give me any tips on growing them in our climate?
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone on the forum.

|Jason nice window boxes. |
Hi Kate!!!!! I grow lots of these every year and even take cuttings to hold over in the greenhouse. I don't put any coleus out until it stays 50 degrees at night. They are very tender plants. I'm also in Washington State and think we may have similar growing conditions. I mix mine in containers like Jason, just bait for slugs they love the tender new plants.
This may help. I know you cant order from here but lots of good information on growing.

Your boxes look great Riverman123
Hi Julia - I didn't realize you were a coleus grower too!
I guess I learned the hard way that it'snot warm enough to plant them out just yet, we've had lovely weather for the last month, so |i put some seedlings out. They were doing great until the temperatures dipped back to normal this week. Oh well I know for next year! Maybe I'll start some more seeds for planting out in a month or so.
