What did you loose this last year? Here is my sad list (this covers the last three years). I was going through my spreadsheet of Iris cultivars putting the 2014 bloom season statistics. I then did a rough update to note which cultivars are considered "lost" and created the following list. It is not in want back order, but I will be on the lookout for these when I see other things I like. There are a few I may decide to not get again, but for the most part I want to get them again. Room is always an issue!!! Accessible Action Adventure Adoree Az Ap Banda Larga Beach Dance Behind Closed Doors Brilliant Performance Circle of Light * Contrite Creative Stitchery ** Credible Justification Delightful Kid Don't be Cruel Expressions Fancy Dress * Fiery Figure Follow That Dream Gettysburg Address Going my Way Heather Hawk I Hope You Dance * Inspired Liaison * Lunar Whitewash Magharee * Main Attraction Matt McNames Mountain Dew Nora Eileen Obsidian Peaceful Persuasion Spice Trader Splashacata * Spreckles Tiger Shark Tuxedo Wings of Peace * Yubblegum * Replaced or on the way since posting this thread ** This is confused with Lady Laree/Art Deco. |

Besides Nora Eileen I am not going to be of any help to you. Hope you find Gettysburg Address, I really like that one. "The chimera is a one time happenstance event where the plant has a senior moment and forgets what it is doing." - Paul Black |

Three or four of these are available to me from Stoney Creek Iris. I just need to ask. Brilliant Performance and Nora Eileen are two of those. Not sure though that i really want Brilliant Performance back. I will most likely skip that one. I got it as a bonus, so it is not something special to me. http://www.stoneycreekiris.com... |

I have Going My Way, Liaison, and Magharee. Should have lots of each in the Spring if you are still wanting to replace them then. |

Cool. Would love to. You have a bunch I am interested in. Hopefully I have some you would like to capture! |

I have Adoree, Behind Closed Doors, and Splashacata...but Adoree is struggling so I don't know when or if I'll be able to share that one. I'll have to see how the other two are doing next fall. I also have Wings of Peace...already dug...and if it will fit in the envelope it may be coming your way along with the others! |

That made me so sad to read. I've only lost 2 or 3 ever... I only have Splashacata, which has done well.. If you don't get it from somewhere else, I'd be happy to share next year. The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us. |

Adoree seems to be a very slow one to increas here too. Her child Adoranova seems to be following in the same footsteps. Voltaire: "Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities," |

The total is what I lost over the last three years and only counts when I completely lost a cultivar. I started concentrating on getting replacements this year and have done so for over 10 cultivars (so the list would be longer if I had not started replacing). |

Greg, I want to get Honky Tonk Hussy. I bought it from a vendor and it is the wrong iris. That vendor is no longer around. I liked it so much and thought I had it so I feel like it is a replacement iris. lol Here are the ones I lost this year and have not replaced yet. Brown Lasso (must replace this one) Baboon Bottom (will replace it as I go) Anvil of Darkness (will replace it as I go) Dangerous Mood (must replace this one) Halloween Moon (must replace this one) Crackling Caldera (great beards, will replace it as I go) Fleabitten Butterscotch (must replace this one) Mad World (really want to replace this one) Matt McNames (must replace this one) Moment SDB (must replace this one) Some of these survived the spring hail storm but just could not hold on with split rhizomes and all their leaves broken and beaten. I already have one order with several on it ready to send next spring. I have had a near miss with rot on Enchanted Princess but I dug it up and did surgery and saved two rhizomes. I lost half of protocol and a few rhizomes of a noid SDB to rot. So far so good. I have three of those. Let me check the status, but I think I could send you all three week (probably Monday). They are: Brown Lasso Anvil of Darkness Dangerous Mood |

I would love that. Their spots are still open with the name tag on it since I plan to replace them. I will gladly send you postage. smiles Thro' all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul— How can I keep from singing? |

As far as "total" losses, luckily there have only been a few, and almost all of those were replaceable. A couple just never 'took off" after planting, and the vendors replaced those. I did lose one of "last years" iris to a strange case of rot, and, so far, I haven't been able to find a replacement....and it's getting late enough in the year that it will be a "next years' project. I did lose one late last fall, also, but .supposedly, I have one coming to replace it....if it ever gets here, that is ! Again, it's getting pretty late in the year to be doing much iris planting. ..............Arlyn |

ha ha. I am sure I will be at it until mid October. The plan was to finish by Labor day, but I moved two beds and created two new beds. |

Bonnie, I was recently given 3 little Baboon Bottom rhizomes. If you check with me next year hopefully I will have enough increase to share...unless someone else has some available sooner. |
Moiris Sep 11, 2014 10:44 AM CST |
I almost lost Poem of Ecstasy to rot, it looks like I was able to save 1 rhizome that is starting to take hold. I also lost a lot of Aura Light, Total Recall, Tanya Lynn, Crete, and Desert Sonata...but it looks like I managed to save some of each...time will tell. I was not able to save Cranberry Sauce. I also lost Game Plan, but have that one on order. I'm sorry to hear you lost so many Greg, even if it was over a few years ![]() ![]() |

I have Matt McNames I just split up this year and Circle of Light which I will split up next year. Both good increasers here... should be able to do something next year. The only one I lost this year was Red Handed, which is a bummer... I really like it. Had some messed up blooms this spring...then just shriveled up. Didn't see any rot or borers. |

Most of these have disappeared from my yard without a trace. I'm thinking it's from all the ground squirrels I have in my area. (I also have a lot of wild rabbits too) I think they are stealing and eating them. Afternoon Delight Amber Essence Arctic Burst Belvi Cloud Cotillion Gown (died from rot...and I just got this one a few weeks ago ![]() Evening Drama (shriveled up) Hello Darkness (bought 2, one died in Winter, the other bloomed with no new growth) Hot Topic Inspired Jurassic Park * Kathleen Nelson (died in Winter) King of the Road (bought 2, one died in Winter, the other turned out to be something else) Maui Sunrise Men in Black Mesmerizer (died in Winter) Micro Burst Nessun Dorma Queen's Circle * River Pearl (shriveled up) Rock and Roll Girl Sky Hooks Softly Struck Twice (shriveled up) Swing Town (bloomed with no new growth) Tennison Ridge (bloomed with no new growth) Tink (bought 2, one died in Winter, the other is barely hanging on. I think it will die this Winter) I lost quite a few this year. Thankfully, the vanishing rhizomes have stopped, but the squirrel damages have not. They are digging up and under everything! ![]() * Replaced or on the way since posting this thread (copied from Greg) The ones that died during Winter (and some that are still not doing well) started off as very small and very dry rhizomes. So I had a feeling their success rate would be low. |
