Here's mine... I've had it for about 3 years now....

I hate losing plants....I know they are "just plants" but when you nurse them along and baby them and get them to grow, bloom, and be pretty and they die....it's like losing a friend..... Crying

Thanks Smiling I would love to put it in a different pot....maybe even a fan cage! but I don't want to break any of the rhizomes. Right after I bought it, I dropped it and the plastic pot split open. Duct taped it and now you can barely see the pot. Rhizomes are also coming out of the bottom of the pot everywhere Shrug! I guess as long as it looks happy, I'll leave it alone....

I had one in CA that did that. I haven't had as much success with them here, but mostly because I run out of room over the winter. Big Grin

These do great in wire baskets, or something like Kim's fan cage.

Here's mine this spring....growing out the top sides and bottom.

Beautiful mj!! I think this next spring I'm going to look for a small one and try my "fan cage" method...I just don't want to break this one all up trying to repot it.

I have the same problem Tee...I have to bring everything inside....much to the dismay of my Hubby (to him all plants are just weeds)....and in the hot dry gas heat, I've lost many plants over the winter. I hang my favorites over the kitchen sink where they get some humidity and dare Hubby to say anything!! LOL But being inside does take it's toll....this fern actually looked really bad in February. Took lots of babying to get her back.

Thanks Lin, Kim. I've had it about 5 years I think. Was a tiny little thing in a 3 in.pot when I got it.

I have the same plant.....but around here we call them a rabbit's foot fern. I don't know which is correct but mine generally "sheds" most of the green leaves in the winter..... Don't worry, it's resting. It also doesn't require as much water during this time. In the spring it will wake up. Green leaves will start coming out everywhere! I repotted mine last year, and it did just fine. Any little feet that fell off, I just dipped them in a rooting mixture, and stuck it in potting mixture. They rooted just fine. Don't be afraid to go for it! Hurray!

Nothing to it....really, but I was scared to at first...especially when broke it apart, but all I did was stick the little pieces in some rootone and just stuck them in the dirt! Even when a piece falls off, I will do that now...and stick a piece in what ever plant is close by and it's growing everywhere! Lol. I live in SC, and the leaves die back in the winter, but they start coming back in the spring like clockwork. I just keep them in the garage. If you are to afraid to try the whole thing, just break off a few "feet", and start some new pots. :-). But it really is that easy!

Hurray! It's everywhere.....just like "wabbits". I just dipped each piece with rootone and stuck it in the dirt, potting mix. Don't be afraid! :-).
