Someone offered to send me this saying its gymnocalycium friedrichii which usually get pink flowers, but with no flower photo I am not sure, it could be gymnocalycium mihanovichii or similar looking gymnocalycium. I know the ribs can help Id but I'm not an expert with cacti. ![]() |

I don't believe so. It's a Gymno, but not sure which one. This is Gymnocalycium mihanovichii var. friedrichii. It changes from dark purple to dark green, and a mix of the two. Planto |

Hmm, I'm not sure how you could tell if anyone has one for sale. According to the database insert for Gymnocalycium mihanovichii, there are three people (including myself) who own a Gymnocalycium mihanovichii (but if the other two have var. friedrichii, I don't know). My Mother found mine at a local Lowes this Spring; it was a gift. It was grown by Cactus Collection (they do have a website if you want to check it out). This is the first one I've ever seen in town, unfortunately. I wish I could steer you in the direction of places online you could find one to purchase (if you wanted to do that), but I rarely buy plants online. Sorry. Planto |

Where did you see listing for people who have it, I searched keyword nothing shows? |

Click on one of my two pictures from above and it'll take you to the database entry for Gymnocalycium mihanovichii. When you get there, there's a link under "From our plant lists" that says "3 members have this plant." Click on that link and it'll bring up the names of the folks on ATP that have it in their plant list. I'm one, but there's also bendee31 and treehuger. Now I don't know if they have var. friedrichii, they may just have a 'Moon cactus' (which also goes by Gymnocalycium mihanovichii if I'm not mistaken). You could always try asking them if they know of a good place to purchase Gymnocalycium mihanovichii var. friedrichii if they don't have one. Planto |

Let me know what you find out. I wish I could be of more help, but I don't order plants online (rarely) and the selection where I live is limited to Lowes and Home Depot (our two nurseries don't carry cacti). Planto |

I've been searching online a few places have them so I'll buy from there. |

Okay. Post a picture when you get a chance. I'd love to see the green version. Planto |
