Oh you lucky girl! Does he have gardens you can go visit? That would be so fun! "The chimera is a one time happenstance event where the plant has a senior moment and forgets what it is doing." - Paul Black |

Think he used to have tours, don't know about now. Have corresponded with him by mail looking for a specific Iris and he was very helpful. ![]() It’s okay to not know all the answers. |

You are very lucky Debra! I have really come to appreciate his creations...and your photo of Have A Goodun with that fat rusty brown beard has just put me over the edge. I hope you plan to have a bed dedicated to Burseen iris! That would make quite an interesting show! ![]() |

Oh -- me too, Marilyn! That is just gorgeous. And as I am not making a wishlist this year -- as everyone knows -- I'll probably completely forget about it by next spring! ![]() Thoughts become things -- choose the good ones. (www.tut.com) |

Good golly Rob... You got my heart beating faster with the mention of someone taking orders early... Maybe someone could whisper it to me, since we're not mentioning who it is ![]() The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us. |

Now, y'all have me thinking I need to put Snow Spoon, Cosmic Celebration, Bluebeard's Ghost and Blackbeard's Daughter together near Witch's Wand. |

Yep.. 'Bluebeard's Ghost' is also on my wish list... and I love yellow and white together.. Throw a feathery horn on it, and I'm there! I love the way the beard goes from blue to gold on 'Bold Statement'. ![]() The orange beard on 'Leading Light' makes the center glow, don't you think? ![]() Something about an orange beard on a pink flower. Talking about an orange beard on a pink iris look at Dazzling Sarah, a 2006 Burseen, I think This is one iris that the photos do not do it justice. Much lovlier in person, er flower. Thro' all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul— How can I keep from singing? |

I'm liking Dazzling Sarah! ![]() Voltaire: "Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities," |

yes, it is. And I would have thought with such a strong orange beard it would not have that subtle blue/lavender wash on the falls. Some irises beckon from across the garden but DS will wait until you are a bit closer and then stop you in your tracks. It is dazzling. Sherry - whisper (Wild Iris Rows) whisper Just got Bold Statement this year - look forward to the bloom! Marilyn - that is me with the Have A Goodun, but Debra with the luck to live by Burseen. He has sooooo many I like, and soooooo many it is hard to find pictures of. Guess I'll have to buy them and see what blooms! ![]() Love Dazzling Sarah there Bonnie! ![]() "The chimera is a one time happenstance event where the plant has a senior moment and forgets what it is doing." - Paul Black |

I would really like to have Bettern Beer, but it doesn't appear to be available commercially. It’s okay to not know all the answers. |

It sounds lovely, Debra, but I do not know a source for it other than Burseen himself. Thro' all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul— How can I keep from singing? |

I hadn't realized Tom Burseen was deaf and only takes correspondence. I wonder if he has a catalog of his own iris? Think I may write and inquire....... "The chimera is a one time happenstance event where the plant has a senior moment and forgets what it is doing." - Paul Black |
Moiris Nov 7, 2014 12:59 PM CST |
I didn't know that either! If he has a catalog or if you find access to some of his irises please share!! ![]() |
