Just wondering when everyone shops the most on the Lily Auction. I know that I usually watch closer to Christmas and in the Spring. I may list a few newer ones on the LA later but I have had a lot of success selling here on ATPs I just think for some of the newer plants there may be a larger audience of bidders there. Has anyone purchased from Morning_Star? They have a Munson and a couple of oldies I am interested in. Thanks, Teresa ![]() Bee Kind, make the world a better place. |

Ive been buying now. Ive never done that before, but really need something to look forward to. I think its touch and go. Sometimes it seems busy, others, not so much. The seeds have been busy. Normally, its pretty soon after Christmas I start looking. My favorite time to buy is in the fall just before everyone stops shipping. The fans/clumps are nice, and I still have plenty of time for them to settle in. |

Well, I made the mistake of going over to the LA, to do a little research on this subject.![]() ![]() |

Good luck Pam,lol. I have noticed, as a seller and buyer, that in general prices are lower in the Fall for plants. Just depends on the cross for seeds. I find great deals this time of year. |

Thanks for the good referral, Pat. I hate to purchase from a new to me seller. I have gotten some really disappointing orders before. Just not to many. I have been bidding on a few seeds. Ones with Cobalt Rings or Born to be Wild crosses for now. Bee Kind, make the world a better place. |

Teresa, I ordered from Morning_Star in August for the first time. I was very impressed with the size of the fans that we received, plus they sent 2 bonus daylilies for one win. I will not hesitate to order from them again. Doris "Anything worth doing is worth overdoing"~~~David Bishop http://daylilyfans.com/bishop/ |

Thank you, Doris I appreciate the note. I watched the AHS video clips and saw that you are going to be on the Atlanta Nationals! Congratulations, that is a huge commitment. I would love to attend but hoping to make the 2016 near Louisville, KY. Bee Kind, make the world a better place. |

That would be so nice. On Thursday, we went to the Madisonville daylily meeting. The speaker was Nikki Schmith. She did a great job. It is so much better to actually meet people in person. I try to follow her blog. She spoke on dark daylilies and photography. Bee Kind, make the world a better place. |

I saw on Facebook that she was speaking. We will have a series of mini clinics (16) at the 2015 National, and Nikki will be one of the presenters. She has so much positive energy and enthusiasm. "Anything worth doing is worth overdoing"~~~David Bishop http://daylilyfans.com/bishop/ |

I happen to be watching a seed auction, that is extened. Its a cross Ive seen many times, but for some reason tonight, two hard heads are in a war, and the seeds are up to almost 200 bucks. Boy is somebody going to be sorry. |

I went back this morning and printed out all the closed auction page of the plants I have won, or want. Since they are only up a few months, this will give me something to compare, at least these plants to, in the spring. It will be interesting to see what happens with prices. Sunday, I saw someone win a plant for 50 bucks, that someone else had paid 100 for the week before. The plant starts bidding at 34. I feel buying early, I have probably overpaid on everything. I hope they will at least hold there value thru the spring. |

Pam, sometimes folks really get carried away with the bidding wars. I just wish they would be bidding on something I was trying to sell LOL. I have been bidding on seed crosses but haven't won any yet. I am setting a top price for 5 seeds so I may not win any ![]() Below is a picture of me and Nikki Schmith. She was the speaker at the Madisonville, KY club. She was very good and informative, she had a great slide show on dark/black daylilies and tips on photography also. She is a ball of energy! ![]() Bee Kind, make the world a better place. |

I LONG met my quota of seeds. Right now, if I happen fall off the wagon, I only bid the minimum. There are so so many seeds out there. I actually almost like it when Im outbid, just means I keep going another day. ![]() |

Before bidding I always check prior auctions, see what a certain named daylily went for in the past. That way I can decide what I want my top bid to be. Anyone else do that, I just hate to pay more than the going price. Seems like many of the same ones come up over and over, so I can always get it later or I'll fall in love with another. I have been bidding on random seed crosses from BORN TO BE WILD. The plant is really staying in the higher price range. So far the seeds are doing pretty well too. Bee Kind, make the world a better place. |

Youve got it down Julia....thats the way to go, and its shocking how many dont. Fun to watch, but crazy. As I statted before, last weekend...totally common seeds that sell all the time on the LA for about 10 bucks, sold for 214.00. I wonder if they will pay. A plant I bid on, sold for 100 two weeks ago, when I bid on it my top bid was 50 bucks, and it sold for 55. One week later. Its listed every week, week in and week out. |
