I have some of the BIGGEST caladium bulbs I've EVER seen and I've seen a few!!!
One of my buddies planted a bunch of Mixed bulbs on some new land he was trying out and all I can say is "WoW"....
Once they come out of the ground only God knows which ones are which but we're about 95% positive that the REAL BIG bulbs I have are Stardust.
There's a chance they could be something different but that's pretty slim. I can go thru the trays I have and for the most part all the monster bulbs are the Stardust.
You are not going to find Caladium bulbs this BIG anywhere!!!!! Here's a pic of one of them.
I'm still working out the details on how I'll offer them. The bulb in picture weighs just under 4 Lbs.

Wow, that is HUGE!! It looks like a bunch of bulbs decided to co-mingle and grow together to form a giant!
Ok ... I'm off to see what Stardust looks like! Green Grin!

Oooh, I think I really like Fancy-leaf Caladium (Caladium 'Stardust') !!

Bill, I haven't purchased any bulbs in a while and lost all mine not bring able to dig them up due to illness. I sure miss my caladiums.
I have a question.. Can they be planted at the base of brugmansias or would the fertilizer and water requirements of the brugs be too much for them? I will be placing an order soon. :)
Tami

Tami,

Caladiums look beautiful in hanging baskets too. If you have space you could bring the baskets inside to a basement, closet or garage during the winter after they go dormant and move them back outdoors when the weather warms up in the spring. I plant mine directly in the ground here in Florida and if we have mild winters they most always re-sprout but if we have a few frosts or freezes unfortunately they are goners. These photos are from a few years ago.

The problem is going to be shipping them. It's not really a problem but the cost might be an issue because the bulbs are so big

Tami,

I've never planted them with brugmansias. Not sure what kind of fertilizer you use on them.
Maybe someone else can chime in that more experience growing them together.

Call me to place your order if you can. If I know how many bulbs I'm shipping and where they are going to, I'll try to discount the S&H from what the website would normally charge you.
I've got some really nice bulbs this year!! A couple(White Queen and Gingerland) are in real short supply this year.
I will be Sold Out of them real soon!!!

I have smaller Stardust too.
In fact I just got a bunch of trays(a couple thousand bulbs) of Stardust and Galaxy mixed. They are field run bulbs(haven't been graded) so I need to decide how I'm going to offer them.
They are AWESOME bulbs though!!!!!

That is my favorite regular leaf caladium, wish it wasn't too cold here for shipping.

I overwinter my caladiums, I just let the tops die off (no freezing) and bring the pots in, keep them dry till March, pull them out, warm them up, water and they resprout.

Lin, I've never dug my Caladiums up here. I end up with babies that I spread around the different beds.

Tami, I don't think water would be an issue planting with your Brug's but if you use tomato fertilizer for your Brug not sure how the Caladiums would like that.
God gave us wings. He just called them horses

I feel silly, but I never thought about classifieds on ATP, someone mentioned listing some daylilies, so I went and found it. The caladiums would be nice, but just finding the forum is great to me.

Hi Bill,
I would also like to place an order. I have never grown them before. I live in Iowa so I will have to bring them in for the winter. But I already dig up my cannas, glads, and dalhias so what is one more to dig up and bring in. Let me know what you have. Depending on cost of bulb and shipping, not sure how many I will get.
Thanks,
Jeanne
