Don't know if he meant in a greenhouse however. I don't have a greenhouse; everything is outside in the ground. The scape on the seedling isn't the greatest looking thing thus far, but it is there. |

I planted "Mandalay Bay Music" last year, I will have to check tomorrow when I get home and see if the plant is even showing yet, if the tag is still there. |

I had a seedling showing a scape in Jan and and a second in early Feb. I cut them off. That seedling was the first to bloom last year, but early scapes will not bloom right. Looks like we will get 35 degrees on Fri or Sat. I've got all the tropicals in the garage and the big guy (the Arthurian "Ruffles") in the breakfast room. They should be there until Monday. And I'm on the coast in Daytona. Anyway, we are set. I've fertilized the daylilies twice with Trimmer's rocket fuel. Don't think I'll do it again--they are looking good. We'll see after the cold weather!!! Bundle up! Arlene |

Dan Trimmer calls Scotts Cal-Mag 15-5-15 daylily rocket fuel. Here is a link to an article he did in Connecticut a while back: http://www.ctdaylily.com/trimm... His reference to Cal-Mag is near the end of the article. I bought a new supply on ebay last month and it was fairly priced. Have used it twice. I'll post a pic of my daylilies tomorrow. They look nice!! |

I checked the garden today when I got home, the tag was there, but "Mandalay Bay Music" is not showing yet. Supposed to get down into the twenties again tonight. |

Way to go Pat, I should start seeing some soon in the seedling beds. Love the orchids Arlene, we do have daffodils blooming here. |

Micro Dots looks like she might be getting a scape also. Micro Dots seems to be a pretty good plant here although bought by "accident" at a club auction. Finding where to pollinate her is tricky though. Micro Dots last summer: ![]() |

Snow is up to my hips and the temperature has been below zero here. A wonderful neighbor plowed out my driveway with a payloader.I keep telling myself Spring is coming but I couldn't even drive my wife to church. Will God hear her at home?? |

-23C or -9F here this morning - no scapes yet!! LOL I'm hoping to start working the beds in April. I guess that is why it takes 3 years before I see the first bloom on one of our hybrids. Cheers! May the blooms be with you! |

I have 80 daylilies in boxes. Starting in Oct I removed each one, replaced/enhanced the soil, then replanted. The project was finished by the first week in Nov. I'm sure the earliest of the earlies are going to be delayed by what I did, but, boy oh boy, they are looking good right now. I do a scape hunt everyday! ![]() It will happen. It must happen. But weather underground shows us near 32 or 33 for the next two nights. Maybe it's good it hasn't happened yet!!!! ![]() Last year was such an awful disappointment. This year HAS TO BE BETTER!! Weedy, I'm sure your wife's prayers are heard upstairs ![]() We certainly won't be seeing any scapes outside for at least a few more months. It was 1F and is supposed to be -4F by Thursday. Vickie May all your weeds be wildflowers. ~Author Unknown |
