This. Discovered today in one of my Escallonia Macrantha shrubs. It is lined with one of my horse's tail horse hair making it all the more special.

Parents were on the nest today. I couldn't get a photo (they darted away when I approached) but I got a good look. They are "Silvereye" http://www.birdsinbackyards.net/species/Zosterops-lateralis

Yes, please do!
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others.

Hurray! Baby birds are just so cute ... their appearance will start changing very quickly once their feathers begin to come in, and oh what fun you will have watching as they learn to fly and fledge the nest! Even though there are just two babies, those parents are going to be real busy in the coming weeks trying to keep those two fed.

Still, house sparrows are some of the busiest bug-catching critters it's been my pleasure to watch. Lovey dubby As long as I have plenty of these guys around I don't worry so much about developing a detrimental bug problem in my gardens.

The problem is house sparrows are not native and they kill other birds and take over vital breeding areas. so much so that they are one of only two bird species not covered under any legal protection whatsoever the other bird is the starling. house sparrows may drive naive birds to extinction in some areas.

We've got so many baby birds around here it's like a nursery. I even saw a baby cockatoo the other day. I'm sitting in my living room watching the Superb Blue wrens and the newly flying SIlvereyes hop around in the bushes outside the window.

We don't get any undesirable birds up here on the farm like in more populated areas. I haven't even seen a single introduced species, all native.

Great!

Thats how it ouaght to be. Thumbs up

I think however I found a mix of seed that keeps the sparrows away white stripped sunflower and safflower seed.
