I've been submitting (mostly very minor) suggestions for botanical name changes today, while importing links to ATP into http://www.robsplants.com/plan... (which is coming along nicely, but slowly: I want to do it right). Zuzu has been kind enough to tackle my requests, in most cases approving them, but rejecting a few with reference to www.catalogueoflife.org . Is that the governing taxonomical reference for ATP? I've recently been using theplantlist.org myself, and in some cases there are obviously clashes between the two. I haven't researched how these resources differ, but if the former is more authoritative, I may decide to use it as well. Rob from Pennsylvania - robsplants.com |
The Plant List is woefully outdated in many cases. Even when the site was updated a couple of years ago, much of the information remained obsolete. I use the Catalogue of Life, which is updated quite frequently (most recently on February 15, 2015). Here's a link to the CoL search box: http://www.catalogueoflife.org... |

Thanks for clarifying. I'm a gardener, not a botanist, and merely (meekly) follow the latest whims of the scientific community :-) I've added catalogue of life to my toolbox. Rob from Pennsylvania - robsplants.com |

Phew. I'm done. Well past my bed time. This has been productive - fixed a bunch of mis-spellings in my own database, and was glad to see most of my suggestions for fixes on this end get processed so quickly. Rob from Pennsylvania - robsplants.com |
It was productive, I agree. You fixed a bunch of misspellings in this database too. |
