As did alot of you, I got my shipping email from the Lambertsons. They are always the first to come in the spring an will be shipped monday. The anticipation never gets old. I stocked up on the pine fines last week, will get them mixed when the drizzle goes away.
Was reading the maryott thread, will go over and look. I dont have good luck with those, I think its because of when he ships. I got some this fall, and I hope they do better. The are so honking big, I think sometimes when shipped in June, its just to much for them in this heat.
Glad I got the spotted one from Nicole, I wasnt sure if it would sell out.
I havent got to be around much the last few months, but hopefuly with my Mother getting better, I can enjoy mine and YOUR alls daylilies

I should receive Stamiles daylilies the first week of March. I hope to start shipping the second week of March, just depends on Mother Nature, which has been pretty good so far this winter.

Even more exciting, I know Ive got a couple coming from you. I just cant wait to see everyones new ones/seedlings bloom.

I'm still a good 7 weeks or so from shipping. It's just been so cold for the latter half of the winter.

Do you have a GH, so you can at least catch a little early bloom for your area?

I'm always up for trying something new, so all my spring shipments will originate from near the Canadian border . I figure my plants will be scaping by the time the supplier thaws out enough to dig for shipping. I got one shipment that way last fall. It appeared dormant when I got and grew like a crazy thing after I planted it. In no time at all it had more foliage than some that were growing from the year before. It went dormant again but is now actively growing (more 20sF coming up this week so it may go back t dormancy ). I won't see them bloom this year, I think, because of the timing.

If wishing made it so... If I find myself long term in a climate like this, a GH is very very high in the list.

I will usually get blooms out of plants from the southern growers before ones that have over wintered. At this point I have pollen frozen so it doesn't really get in the way all that much.

I figured with the good seed crosses you had, you got going early with a greenhouse. I didnt think about frozen pollen tho. That would speed things up a bit.

Well James, enjoy the stage your in right now, full of anticipation, but none of the work . The work thing really hit me last week once I got notification that plants were to be shipped. Lots to do, thats for sure.

How cold were you last Friday morning Cindy? We ended up around -11 because we had some cloud cover but I read that Flint bottomed out around -25! This was the morning (of course!!) I rented a truck and headed to Kalamazoo for pine fines. They were frozen solid by the time I got them back home.

Thats dedication if Ive ever heard it.
Frozen or not, I bet your feeling pretty good youve got that checked off the list.

I think it was -12 here James. We haven't had a cold winter like this in a very long time.

I think James and Cindy are sharing their weather with those of us farther south. That's very generous. However, it's making me very uncomfortable (literally), so perhaps you could hold off until another time - say in January 10 years from now?

The weather also makes me think I have more time to place orders for shipment, so it's sent me over to the LA to browse while I over estimate what I can reasonably get in place along with the shipments already on order. Surfing the LA is always a bit dangerous. Today one more new one made the 'wish list'! It's really tempting to get outside of the parameters I've set for that list and add more, but the list is already unreasonable. Today's addition is the first time one actually made it to the list since Cindy's 'Downriver Butterfly' grabbed a space. At least the vendors on the ones I'm looking at today are still located in the frozen north with later shipment dates. That will give me more time to get them situated, but probably means no bloom the first year here.

I was over at the LA today myself. I must say, they are practically giving away plants that were a hefty three figures last year. There is alot of stuff I bought in October, that is much cheaper now, and from the same sellers. I wont make that mistake next year, unless its just a must must must have. I really dont like buying so far in advance anyway, likely is I will have changed my mind three times. This year I did, A treat for a tough year. I dont regret it, but this year Ill try to have my therapy at the fabric store

The most wonderful time of the year!!

I HAVE to plant in the fall and am not willing to purchase in the spring and wait. Luckily my husband has two expensive hobbies (cars and firearms) so he doesn't peep when I spend in the fall. It's called don't ask .... don't tell, although I do warn him when I'm about to spend a lot more than I want to. Oh, well. At this time of year it's worth doing. Plants have been fertilized and are growing. If I buy now, they can't get established quickly enough to face the heat. Bloom season isn't far away
