Bright cheery yellow Betsy. Nice to see but it will be difficult to impossible to ID. Obviously a historic. To early for bearded iris here even with an early spring but here are some reticulata.....![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Paul Smith Pleasant Grove, Utah |

Must be nice to have an iris blooming in Feb. We got 2 more inches of new snow yesterday and it's only 10 degrees today. It will be a while here. Thanks for sharing, do you have more coming soon? Hi Betsy! ![]() Your bright yellow Iris *may* be Ola Kala. I'm including a photo of mine so that you can compare. If you think this is a possibility, to be sure of a positive identification, you'll need to buy a rhizome of Ola Kala from someone reliable -- and then plant it next to yours to see if they look exactly the same, side by side. ![]() ![]() A side-by-side comparison is the only way to be sure of what you have. ![]() Thoughts become things -- choose the good ones. Debra, at this rate I will not see any bloom until April. Betsy, thanks for sharing your iris photo. It sure is a beautiful sunny color. Do you have any more blooming? My mind is made up, don't confuse me with facts. |

I have Skating Party blooming. I didn't get time to take a photo 2 days ago when I noticed it and was gone all day today, so the bloom may be pretty sad by tomorrow. I'll try to catch it when the next one opens up. I also have stalks emerging on several other plants...but I don't remember which ones right now. I think one of them may have been Boysenberry Buttercup. It seems all my re-bloomers are making an early appearance. |

I'll have to go take a closer look at my Skating Party to see if anything is going on... I haven't noticed obvious signs on most of mine yet. I had a stalk on Indian Chief that I cut and brought in the house... I'm getting lots of good growth right now. Everything is waking up. Several more Narcissus popped into bloom in the past couple of days. The roses are pushing out their beautiful spring flush of growth.. Moving into the giddy season.. I got great news today... I had a gardener that I absolutely loved. He's got really high skill levels, and he's great to work with... He left a few months ago to just do design work. He called today and said things have slowed down and was wondering if I could use him. I'm doing a happy dance... When counting, try not to mix chickens with blessings. |
