That all fits with what I have observed.

Certain crosses have bloomed, while most have not. The cross Wolverine X Heavenly New Frontiers had 4 out of 5 seedlings bloom in this early first year. However both of the parents are listed as mid-late season plants.

So presumably the bloom season is specific to the cross. In this case it was consistent for the entire cross. (Almost). If the length of night were a factor however, maybe this cross is behaving correctly as a Late season bloomer, like its parents.....

Many thanks Maurice. My data keeping is good but not that sort of detail yet.

I hadn't thought of the problem of high temperatures and growth. We often exceed 30C in the warm months.
I have always bought ones that are registered as dormant if I desired them - to see how they grow here. Glorious Autumn is my only failure.

Others: Forestlake Ragamuffin dies down in winter to below ground but has always come back. I have two clumps but the number of fans vary from year to year put always only a few. I notice one has only sent up one fan so far this year. It reblooms too.

The most interesting are SKINWALKER and SILOAM BO PEEP which show no signs of dieback in winter. The clumps flourish all year.

I want to try Screamcicle but the local supplier has the warning is it dormant and needs quite cold temperatures.

PS. This is added later in the day. I looked up Pat Cochenour. It looks like she bred her daylilies in Pennsylvania I think it is very cold there?
The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.
