I now have a male wood duck who visits my pond every day. It's hard to see him because i cant get closer to take a picture, but he's the roundish brown blob on the far pond bank, ready to fly away if i come closer.

i can just visualize him telling his mate, who is setting on the nest, hungry, or taking care of the duckings, "im off to find food, dear". Then, he comes and sleeps in my minnow pond.
