I love the cyclamen. I want to get some for my garden this year. RE: Amaryllis, I can only grow mine in pots during the winter and my big red one finally bloomed in February but like yours, the flower stem was only about 5 inches tall... A huge trumpet of flowers, but right against the ground. I see that a couple more of the bulbs are sending up flower stalks and it looks like these might be tall. Wonder what causes that short stalk? The end is nothing, the journey is all. |

I have no ideas why they are so short, must just be the variety! |

No, I don't think so. My amaryllis bulbs are quite a few years old and this is the first time any have been short. Mine did get pretty badly touched by freeze this fall (we had a sudden really bad drop in temp) so I'm thinking maybe that had something to do with it? Did yours get frozen or badly frosted? The end is nothing, the journey is all. |

Mine are all outside, but I guess some could be more susceptible to the cold than the others. They all went though a growth spurt then got kill back a time or two. Many of the leaves had brown dead ends, but the dead part just falls off and the leaves turn green when they start growing. |

Wow, everything looks great. You are ahead of us. I have a lot of growth, but nothing with buds other than the spring bulbs and daffodils are about done. Tulips just starting. Of course, if I weeded I might be able to find some things! ![]() |
