Thread OP

I'm whiling away my time, waiting for my irises to bloom, thinking about what other irises I "need" to get. I fell in love with the photos of Toronto, and I'm planning to add it to a bed that currently is just parsley, cilantro, weeds, and Dr. Who. (I tried to add Toronto last fall, and the squirrels walked away with the rhizome. The Iris Society of Dallas is having a show at the end of the month, and will be selling potted irises at that time, and I plan to get it then and try again.) I'd like to add a couple more irises to coordinate with it, probably selfs, plicatas, or dark tops in maroon or peach. I've been thinking about Rio Rojo, Beverly Sills, Cheap Frills, and/or Epicenter. (I'd post pictures, if I knew how to do it from the database.) Any comments or suggestions?

It helps me to see pictures...so here you go:

Looking at these together I would probably not plant Beverly Sills in with the group. It's a beautiful iris...I would just plant it separately.

There are others who are really great at color combinations. I might look for an orange to go in with them.

Here is a link to a great article about color coordinating your irises. It has some beautiful collages including two that are in the same color scheme as the irises you are looking at. I think they may give you some ideas of what would look nice with Dr Who and Toronto.

Good luck and have fun! Big Grin
