I'm not going to post pictures, as those of you that know me, know I spend my life taking iris photos. But I'm starting to get a pretty good collection of hostas. Thanks in a big part to Pams co-ops.

I love looking at the pictures here. Great pictures and new additions everyone!

Here's my list of newbies this year.

I'm trying to decide where to plant Empress Wu. Not sure if I want to put it in a bed with others until it gets to some size, or just start it off in a spot where it can grow and not be moved later. I love all the 'mice' we got this year.

Pam, 'Empress Wu' is a slooooooow grower. I would put it somewhere it doesn't need to be a specimen and move it when it has some size.

I have 3 Empress Wu's Whistling and I did the same thing.... I planted them in with the others... however... I planted them in the "corners" so when they do get bigger I think I will move the other smaller plants to a new spot -- lol Hilarious!

Hey Pam -- did you send me any little guys yet? Blinking

I have so much to plant, I don't know where to start - lol. I'm just going to put a lot in a temporary bed, but I have to make cages for them so the voles don't chow down on them.

You can't do pots, Pam? I pot a lot of mine and tip them on their sides for winter. You can bait for rodents and cover them with a tarp if you want.

Hi Polly, I 've done some pots and they are ok until spring. Then, it seems the top part of the soil thaws and the bottom is still frozen and doesn't allow for drainage and then they rot. Some of the little liners I will overwinter in the greenhouse, but even those I would prefer to get as many in the ground as I can.

Have you tried tipping them on their sides? I haven't run into the problem in spring doing it that way.

I'll have to try it with a couple inexpensive ones. Right now, what I do have in pots are new purchases from this year and I don't want to risk them.

No, of course not.

I winter over all my pots for resale that way. Tip on side, bait for rodents. Tarp over them.

I use poison pellets. It's under the tarp and the pets don't go out there in the winter anyway. Since it's under snow I feel safe. Like the Dcon type.
