I don't know what it is, but it is not Poison Ivy. ![]() Wildflowers are the Smiles of Nature. Gardening with Texas Native Plants and Wildflowers. |

Is this a vine? I'd suspect it's a Clematis. 👀😁😂 - SMILE! -☺😎☻☮👌✌∞☯🐣🐦🐔🐝🍯🐾 The less I interfere, the more balance mother nature provides. 👒🎄👣🏡🍃🍂🌾🌿🍁❦❧ 🍃🍁🍂🌾🌻🌸🌼🌹🌽❀☀🌺 ☕👓 The only way to succeed is to try. |

My first thought was possibly Passiflora. A Passiflora lutea variegated leaf on this page: http://www.ncwildflower.org/pl... ~ Playing in the dirt is my therapy ... and I'm in therapy a lot! ~ |

Looks sort of like fall clematis. |

Good eye Tiffany & Arlene! Here's a photo in the database showing foliage that looks similar! ~ Playing in the dirt is my therapy ... and I'm in therapy a lot! ~ |

What an interesting little plant, a native of Texas http://www.wildflower.org/plan... |

It is in a naturalized area and although there are clematis nearby as well as passiflora, I think it is Desmodium tweedyi . Wow...you guys are good! Can't wait to see the bloom. |

I should have recognized this one but don't know why I didn't think of Desmodium, we have few types that grow here in Florida: Anna, I hope you will consider adding your photo to the database, we currently don't have photos of Tweedy's ticktrefoil (Desmodium tweedyi) ~ Playing in the dirt is my therapy ... and I'm in therapy a lot! ~ |

That does look like a better match, cool! I've found Desmodiums with non-variegated leaves before, but was unable to nail down a species. The little flowers are adorable, on any kind, as far as I could tell from pics. And personally, would be a much more welcome addition than Clematis terniflora. Probably native, and not growing too big to control. 👀😁😂 - SMILE! -☺😎☻☮👌✌∞☯🐣🐦🐔🐝🍯🐾 The less I interfere, the more balance mother nature provides. 👒🎄👣🏡🍃🍂🌾🌿🍁❦❧ 🍃🍁🍂🌾🌻🌸🌼🌹🌽❀☀🌺 ☕👓 The only way to succeed is to try. |

This discussion was in my mind while "wildflower spotting" yesterday. I did find this adorable leaf, but without violating my policy of not touching the unknown foliage around it, I was unable to investigate where it was coming from. (My skin is sensitive to getting a rash from MANY plants. I can't take chances in remote locations w/o soap & running water.)![]() 👀😁😂 - SMILE! -☺😎☻☮👌✌∞☯🐣🐦🐔🐝🍯🐾 The less I interfere, the more balance mother nature provides. 👒🎄👣🏡🍃🍂🌾🌿🍁❦❧ 🍃🍁🍂🌾🌻🌸🌼🌹🌽❀☀🌺 ☕👓 The only way to succeed is to try. |

canadanna, I am not seeing this as a Desmodium; can you post more photos to show the back of the leaf, the individual leaf, the stem, etc. ![]() There are many plants that have white watermarked leaves when young; the pattern may be throwing us off a bit. The second pic looks like passiflora... desirable. |

Will do this weekend. I did pull another smaller one up and it looked like it just had a little round "bulb " and not regular looking roots |

Interesting! None of the plants discussed so far are ones with which I have much familiarity, so am anxious to learn more. I wasn't asking for ID for the leaf I found, but now I'm inspired to look in this spot again later in the year to see how it might be developing. 👀😁😂 - SMILE! -☺😎☻☮👌✌∞☯🐣🐦🐔🐝🍯🐾 The less I interfere, the more balance mother nature provides. 👒🎄👣🏡🍃🍂🌾🌿🍁❦❧ 🍃🍁🍂🌾🌻🌸🌼🌹🌽❀☀🌺 ☕👓 The only way to succeed is to try. |
