There was an article on the web about Bright Hour and Wabash as they are easily confused. Link no longer works as it was on the old worldiris site. Might show up with a web search.

I wish we could still access all the information that was on that site ! Some great stuff, there ! As to "maybe Wabash", I think both are "too new".....the "noid" has too many "striations", or "reticulations", or WHATEVER you want to call those lines coming down the falls from the haft area, to be that "recent" an introduction. By the late 30's-early 40's, most hybridizers considered those to be "unsightly", and had / were working to eliminate them. While you can't get too good a sense of size, from the picture, I'm guessing it's also a smaller bloom. I don't *think* it's B.Y. Morrison, but, something from that era, maybe ?

There was a recent thread which contains some information about the differences between Wabash, Gaylord and Bright Hour.

It looks similar to Awesome Blossom

Colors are similar but it looks like Awesome Blossom has a wider, more modern form?

Thanks for the help Tom. I forwarded that link to my friend. I found this one searching an iris sight. Not sure if the falls are the same, but it is an older one. Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Palomino')

I think Palomino is too old …..yours falls somewhere between the two, in age, IMHO. Shrug!

Thanks for the help guys. I think her iris may just have to remain a NOID. It is a pretty one anyway.

It's hard to tell, because I can't enlarge your picture.. and if it's historic, than this isn't right.

Here's another.. Does it have the white flash around the beard?

This one looks pretty good...

Rolling my eyes. Thanks for the welcomes and all info. Seems a real challenge to Identify some iris. Many seem very similar to each other. I am torn between loving the subtle simplicity of the historics and some of the outrageous color and ruffling of newer varieties. Just planted about 20 new( to me) dwarf and 12 tall bearded. Now to see how they settle in and overwinter. Here is an image of one other oldie that I have

That one is most likely 'Indian Chief'.. I'm a bearded Iris omnivore.. Old ones, new ones, tall ones, dwarf ones.. love them all.. Hilarious!

I like alot of the newer irises that they have come with in the last 15 to 20 years. But for me the historics from the like 40 plus years ago, are are much prettier. theres something that draws me in more for some reason.

I have a few that I think may be historic, but I have not identified them all.

I have a lot of 'Dalmatica'. They're the current earliest bloomers in my yard.

It is the only iris in my yard here (the original irises that were here when we moved here in 2004) that I can confirm I have found. The others are speculation, but if you know, I'd love to know as well!

Another of mine is potentially "Wabash," but, I am not certain as the falls on my irises do not have the white strip around its falls. Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Wabash')

Sample of mine: They're really lovely whatever they are.

I have some yellow irises that are likely border beardeds, but I do not know of any names to look for that are similar to this, other than 'Baby Blessed,' but that is a standard dwarf and reblooms. These do not.

Some non-prolific growers are our tall bearded light pink irises. I've compared it similar to that of 'Cherie' Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Cherie')
But, also refered too as "Campus Flirt." Here's a picture! Rolling my eyes.

Last one, and other than Dalmatica, I am a bit certain I have figured it out (with help), but I am not sure for 100%. They're tan and quite prolific here.
'Bronze Beauty' is what I am quire sure mine are.

Hi Monty! Welcome!

It's hard to tell exactly from your pictures, but you might consider 'Helen Collingwood' as a possibility for your second iris pictured.

The form on your pink one looks like an SDB or possibly another type of median.. I'm pretty sure it's not Cherie. Cherie has a weird texture that becomes more obvious as it ages.
Thumb of 2018-08-18/Henhouse/06b112

I'd be skeptical about Bronze Beauty, which is from the 1800's... I'm no expert, but yours looks more modern ('30's?). Wiki.irises says that those being sold today as Bronze beauty do not match the registered description.

Your last one looks very familiar.. but I can't pin it down.. Confused

Maybe someone else will pipe in with some thoughts and expertise..
