Wonderful Evan ! They all look healthy and happy. What's the one on the left in the last picture ? God gave us wings. He just called them horses |
That's 'Elepaio'. Variegation burns in the sun, still it's done well. Evan |

I like how it's "freckled" white spots. Maybe a part sun/bright shade location.ummmm Picked up this A. lutea at Lowes for $10.00..on the sale rack. I couldn't resist. ![]() ![]() God gave us wings. He just called them horses |
What a steal. It looks huge. I'd have to drive an hour and a half to Logee's and pay 20 bucks for a 4"pot. Evan |

It was the only one they had and it had two dead leaves on it that I cleaned off. I think I'll go ahead are repot it in to a little larger pot and see if I can overwinter it. Only thing is I'm not sure where in the greenhouse I'll put it ! God gave us wings. He just called them horses |

I just found and immediately joined this web site!! I am searching for multiple varieties of elephant ears and would love for someone to offer them for sale or trade this Spring. I live in Misery, sorry, Missouri, so it would be March before it would get warm enough to ship them here. If anyone could offer their list and price, I would prepay to ensure I got some plants. Or, I have several perennials and lots of seed for trade. Please let me know, thanks. These are my very first caladiums, courtesy of the prize I won during our raffle here at ATP: From our sponsor: Caladium Bulbs 4 Less: ![]() Got 4 containers planted in April 2015: First batch - 02Apr2015 ![]() ![]() Second batch-16Apr2015 ![]() ![]() And the latest status as of this July 2015: First batch: This container is the last to wake up, just waking up this July: ![]() This container woke up early on in late May, and now has some flower buds too: ![]() ![]() Second batch: ![]() ![]() ![]() I am enjoying these plants immensely, I thought they will not like it here with our poor humidity, but it turns out, it likes our intense heat days as long as I keep media moist, it survives well. If it overwinters well later, all the more I will try more varieties. Got a summary of the different leaves it has given me, I do not know what varieties these are, but they are all so beautiful ![]() It has been such a frustration in my garden that I get more shade but it is a blessing too, since the afternoon heat will surely scorch the plants. So these caladiums are a good compromise, lovely foliage and gets to send out blooms too. I like the blooms so I am letting it grow. My only problem for them is when our strong winds come around, but they do look cute flapping around like little kites. Been watching closely how it affects them, if the winds will put them in tatters. So far they are holding. |

tarev I won one of those boxes of Caladiums also. Great Prize !!!! Very easy to care for and they are water hounds. Love heat. If your getting high winds you may need to protect your containers as the leaves get larger. Here's what I did with mine. These are in a 14in. pot ![]() Caladiums in Strawberry jar ![]() This last photo shows the Strawberry Jar on June 1 when first planted. ![]() God gave us wings. He just called them horses |

Lovely plants you have there too mj! I am glad I won them during our raffle, otherwise I would not dare plant them. Yes, I have been moving them around trying to find the best spot that will get them protected from the winds, not much safe spot here, but it is good the stems are flexible enough and not too rigid. I just got to remember next time to plant them in late May, and that these plants are as you said water hounds. Makes sense, I see them in my old home country and we got torrential monsoon rains there a lot. One of the inflos opened up much better last night, just love it ![]() We are coming back to two days of high 90's..Caladium temps galore! ![]() ![]() |

Does anyone know what happened to Colocasia 'Noble Gigantae'? It came on the scene and now it seems to have disappeared from plant catalogs. |
Strange, no sign of it anywhere. ![]() Evan |
