My favorite plant is a Tibochina grandiflora. I love the soft fuzzy leaves and the purple flowers. Not hardy here really. 9a I left some out last year and it didn't make it through the 5 days of 20ยบ weather. Worth bringing in. ![]() ![]() |

They get large and floppy so you have to prune but they smell wonderful when they bloom and make a nice background plant. |

Taylor if you hang around with us you probably will see about every rare and unusual plant or seeds that there is. We are doing bog gardens with Drosera sundews and pitcher plants and VFT and bunches of stuff so hang on and join in, we'll get you started doing bogs too. |

OK here is a different plant that also has fuzzy leaves: Uncarina grandidieri. Mine is getting so big I may soon have to donate it to the Botanical Gardens. This picture was taken quite a few years ago. ![]() |

Yes they do. The leaves which are soft and fuzzy have a very peculiar scent. Like musty chocolate (which makes no sense). |

Can you plant it in the ground there Hetty? Very nice! I like the flowers as well. |

Yes, everything is in the ground here. With the exception of this past winter, we tend to be frost-free. |

Hetty luv your Uncarina grandidieri! I hope you kept it. I have three small plants and only one has bloomed for me. I should post a picture of it. |

Mine was just moved to the Naples Botanical Garden this past week. It was getting much too big for my small yard. It will get proper care there, and admiration from many, plus I can see it whenever I want! A win-win if I ever saw one. I have started two cuttings so I hope to have a small plant again one day, which I will keep in a pot! |
