New to this site. But I did search for slime before posting

I have a new Burgundy leafed Hen and chicks.
when I got it due to rain it was very wet, the grower told me to let it dry out.

The other two colors that I got at same are prospering, but the red has a weird slime feel to the leaves. (like slimy ham) I have removed it from te soil and laid it on papertowels.

any suggestions?

oh and I got the plant on the 7th of may.... so 11 days with no new water added. the area directly under the plant was still wet but the surrounding soil was dry to the touch

Hi Paula, and Welcome! to ATP. So glad you found your way here.

Can you show us a photo of the plant, top side and bottom?
I think you did the correct thing by removing it from the pot and setting it on dry paper towels. How did the roots look?

today when I moved it to take the pictures the root ball fell off the hen.

The rootball had some white hairs on it so I put it some of the soil from the good plants and will see if it comes back....
But I am thinking it is a lost cause this time.

Hmmm, sounds like you might have a grub or something. Was the bottom of the semp rotted, or wet? Is there a hollow place in the middle of the crown?
