My grandson's name is Sully Kroen and the day lily was named after him and I would like to know how we can purchase a plant.

Welcome! KKroen. This is a plant forum, and so no sales take place on this site, but I'm sure some of the people on the Daylily Forum will be able to steer you in the right direction.

Welcome to ATP, KKroen. I'll look around, but I've heard of other daylillies that were hard to find.

The ATP database indicates this is a Dan Hansen 2014 introduction. I suggest contacting them directly about this daylily. His website is http://www.ladybugdaylilies.com/

edited to correct spelling to Hansen instead of Hanson! I hate when I misspell someone's name.

Probably the only place you could buy it is from the hybridizer Dan Hansen.
Here's the direct link to Sully Kroen daylily.
It is brand new so the price is pretty steep.

I was about to double-cross-post, it looks like.

I also only found the "ladybug" source:

- - - - - - - - - - -
It is in the ATP database:
Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Sully Kroen')

Here's a "daylily database" owned by the AHS:
http://www.daylilies.org/DaylilyDB/detail.php?id=176429

Holy bank loan! Googling ' Sully-Kroen ' I see this:

>> *SULLY KROEN (Dan Hansen 2015) $100 #0PISK

Well, $100 isn't out of line for an intro just coming on the market, is it? I seem to see a lot of new intros at that price or higher. Maybe the namesake's family can get it at a discounted price if they contact Mr. Hansen.

$100 for a brand new daylily is a good price.
I'm not going to buy a lot of $100 daylilies though. Whistling
For a non daylily addict or non daylily hybridizer I'm sure $100 for a plant sounds like a lot.

Welcome! to ATP KKroen!
'Sully Kroen' is a new 2015 daylily introduction, meaning 2015 is the first time the plant has been made available for purchase by the hybridizer Dan Hansen and is the reason for the higher price when compared to daylilies with earlier introduction dates. All the links above will bring you to the information about this daylily, a very pretty one, too!

Dan is a super nice guy to deal with, I would give him a call, or email, if you are interested in obtaining the plant.

Geez, you guys are quick! I was outside planting the veggie garden. Even with the next 2 nights temps suppose to be in the 30's I think it should warm up by the time the seeds sprout...at least I hope so. Smiling

google "daylily Sully Kroen for sale"

I find this is often helpful. Sometimes the search engines read the price lists.

If the lily was named after him, the family (if a minor) would have to sign permission (I think this is a AHS rule for naming a dl after someone?)
Which means the family would surely know that the dl was being named after the person and have direct contact with that hybridizer and therefore a source for obtaining the plant.

Well...if Dan named a daylily after someone, he would for sure help any family member out. I agree with Char...just give him a call. Hes a very nice guy.
