Having a chat thread is a great way for some one to introduce a new project before starting a separate thread for it. |

When you all do mosaics, where do you find the tiles and glass or whatever it is that you like to use. I have to drive a whole lotta miles to get to a city that's big enough to have like a Joann's or Hobby Lobby or such. Do you find anything at different stores or do you make your own? Dang that was long winded. ![]() Save the planet, it's the only one with chocolate. |
My friend Barb makes a lot of mosaic from broken up china etc. Sometimes the goodwill in my area has all kinds of neat glass you can break up. Also, the glass squares...You never know what you'll find. Ebay used to be a great place but they are becoming more commercial...but worth watching! Loads of thrift stores around here with cheap china and glass. I have to go looking so I can try my hand at this. I have in my mind a large round stepping stone with dragonflies all over it. Save the planet, it's the only one with chocolate. |
That would be beautiful! NATIONAL GARDENING ASSOCIATION ~ Garden Art ~ Purslane & Portulaca ~ CUBITS ~ Trust in the Lord ~ Heart Strength ~ |

Blue glass and green glass from wine bottles would look good for those d'flies don't you think? Save the planet, it's the only one with chocolate. |

Way to go, gwhizz...... |

gwhizz, I noticed you collect bottles for "shows." For our flower shows, you must use the same container as everyone else in that section. It keeps entries from outshining others. My group would be scouring the state trying to outdo each other if we could use our own containers! |

I've visited more thrift shops in the past six months than I have in 20 years! ![]() ![]() Robin, I found my first tiles/china on Art Fire http://www.artfire.com/ and Etsy http://www.etsy.com/ under "Craft Supplies". Their prices are fairly reasonable and you can get some pretty nice assortments and shipping isn't too bad. There are plenty of mosaic suppliers on the web too and if you sign up for their newsletters you can take advantage of the sales they have. ![]() |

Where do I put this? Glass art? Candle holders? Not thrift store. My DGM gave these to me for "entertaining." I'm entertained every time I open the back door now.![]() |
