![]() By NEILMUIR1 | Built in 1514, Hampton Court Palace was home to King Henry VIII and is stunning, as are the gardens. It is now also home to the worlds biggest flower show!
Unfortunately the day I went it rained and rained, but bear with me as I go through acres of mud to show you some of the sights!

Here I am, last but not least, I hope. How do you take pictures that look as though they are out in full sun, but in the pouring rain? Are you a magician? They all look bright and cheerful and like they are smiling. Seeing those wonderful fushias make me want to go back for summers up north. They are spectacular. But, won't do it for they were nothing but trouble for me when they were in the garden. White fly was the main problem. And thanks for putting a picture of my future home at the very beginning. ![]() Hugs, Nancy What would you attempt to do if you knew you would not fail? ~~Dr. Robert Schuller |

Dear Nancy, at last as normal you have arrived! The Fuchsias were lovely and you can but look at them at least, and remember what such a pretty plant they are! As for Hampton Court I do not think you would like doing the housework in there, it is a bit big! Plus as Queen Anne Boleyn found out and a few others, annoy anyone and you go on a river trip down to the Tower Of London and loose your head, literally. Mind you the Rose Garden is only 4 acres, so that would keep you busy. then the famous maze where everyone gets lost in. The formal Tudor gardens, trees that are over 600 years old! Plus you own Royal Tennis court, but not played the same way! The Royal School of Needlework and much more. Plenty of pubs across the bridge for you as well. In the Palace clocks everywhere! But still the wind blows off the River Thames up the Long water on the same route as Queen Anne Boleyn walked in 1536 knowing what her fate would be! So do you still want it! So much Love. ![]() Neil. p.s This is only a bit of it! ![]() |

Dearest Nancy, Richard has not forgiven you yet for calling Kew Palace a castle and you want Hampton Court! ![]() Mind you if you could afford that you would not have to do the housework or the cooking. In King Henry VIIIs time his household bill for Hampton court as he liked spices and things, for a month in today's money was £3 million! Better save up then Nancy! Mind you, you can go for cruises free of charge up and down the River Thames. But don't end up going through Traitors Gate at the Tower of London, as nobody who has ever been through there has come out alive! ![]() It does have its own vine that is tended by a girl I used to go out with (the Royal Vine Keeper), this produce 18 tons of grapes a year on a single vine and is nearly 500 years old! I have informed my mother about you eating scones and she was most delighted indeed, as I often speak of you ! Big Hugs for now. Love. Neil. ![]() |

Good afternoon, Neil That was because I didn't know the difference between a castle and a palace. You showed me on another thread and thank you. I still want both. ![]() Hugs, Nancy What would you attempt to do if you knew you would not fail? ~~Dr. Robert Schuller |
NEILMUIR1 Jul 25, 2011 7:18 AM CST |
Dear Nancy, you want both! A Castle is a lot harder to clean as it has round turrets, so you can't get the vacuum into the corners. ![]() They are a lot colder than a Palace and most have Dungeons. ![]() Plus they have drawbridges and portcullis as well that need looking after. Wait till part 3 of my Article and there is a smaller one that may suit your needs! Super Hugs. Love. Neil. ![]() |

I forgot about the dungeons, Neil. Since my kids are grown, I don't need them anymore, but they would have come in handy many years ago. Again, my ignorance.....what is a portcullis? ![]() Hugs, Nancy What would you attempt to do if you knew you would not fail? ~~Dr. Robert Schuller |
NEILMUIR1 Jul 25, 2011 12:13 PM CST |
Dear Nancy, I was not referring for the children's use, mor an English bit of sport in the Dungeon! ![]() ![]() ![]() Why have you not got lots of microbadges like everyone else? You should ask Dave for a castle and a Palace! They are free and are easy to put on. Go to the top right of your page and you will see a little grey portrait and click on it. Then go to where it says view your microadges, then there is another bit saying view and add more and you can select and put them in order. ![]() ![]() Love. Neil. ![]() |

Dear Vicki, I am but an amateur photographer that happens to be a horticulturist as well. You are far too kind towards me! I wish I could do more Articles, but I am a war disabled pensioner and the Government do not give you much money for that. So therefore, I have to go only where I can afford! Hopefully I will try to do more Articles when money permits. ![]() ![]() Neil. ![]() |

Dear Nancy, I think you could make me a Happy 2 if you came out for scones with me and then down the pub for a pint or two! ![]() Plus a steam train ride with glasses of sherry, followed by a wonderful Roast lamb dinner in a coach house built in 1571. Guess no luck there then. Love. Neil. ![]() |

Don't get you hopes up, Neil, but there is a lot of talk, from me, about coming to London next summer. I so want to see places where my family lived, were married, and Christened. Working on it any way. Hugs, The traveler! ![]() What would you attempt to do if you knew you would not fail? ~~Dr. Robert Schuller |
