Well I have this wonderful idea or what I think is a wonderful idea ,
to start an Native American Heritage bed and have a few daylilies picked out to place in it when I can. Below I have listed some of my choices but I am very interested in some of your favorites with either Native American names or what you would think would be native influence.

Great idea! Hybridizer Dale Hensley has a lot of Native American names for his daylilies. You might want to add some of those.

I'm part Cherokee, and have always thought it would be fun to collect all of the Cherokee daylilies. Just haven't made a dent in the list yet!

I do have Cherokee Star, which I love.

Stan - Yes, Blueridge sells Hensley's daylilies. Here's Tahlequah Flame. It blooms very late, so it would be a great addition to your bed.

Well, I have one in the garden that always puzzled me, Chicago Apache.

What a great idea! I have a small percentage of Blackfoot Indian in me (I'm a Heinz 57 myself! ). Love this idea and there sure are some dynamite plants to use for an Indian theme.

I live on the Nez Perce reservation, and need to see if there are any daylilies named after them! If there aren't, I need to fix that!

Saw some Iris with Nez Perce in the name too. Sadly, there aren't any pictures of any of them. They were all registered a long time ago, so I doubt that they are still around.

Oh boy, I'm going to need to subsidize my income!
