| This is bad, we have a house over on the north shore hope it's ok. BIL is near Sun Cove on the river and trying to get up to Chelan to see if everything is ok. Not my primary residence but still worried. Stay safe my friends in Chelan. Sempervivum for Sale |

| I hope your place is OK Julia - the fires are burning on several fronts in that area and last night there were a lot of road closures. I don't believe you could get into Chelan at all with both 97 and 97A closed as well as the road from Chelan Falls. We've got gusty winds again today up in the Methow, but so far blue skies. It was windy enough last night that the fire jumped the Columbia and is now burning up in McNeil Canyon. Scary stuff. More costumes, less uniforms! |

| It's pretty bad here - 3 firefighters lost their lives today. I can see the glow of the fire over the ridge and the smoke is horrible. We have a pretty big green space around our house and the Methow river on one side so we are safe for now and praying we don't get high winds tomorrow as predicted. Twisp and Winthrop are evacuated and the only way out of the valley right now is to Pateros, with both the Loup and the North Cross closed right now. More costumes, less uniforms! |

| Yes, do stay safe. I am so sorry to hear about the firefighter deaths. I am grateful that the three major fire complexes in Trinity County are on the other side of the mountain. All I have to deal with is the smoke. I'd rather weed than dust ... the weeds stay gone longer. |

| Hi Deb, thought people would like to see that the news people are showing the real thing and not sensationalizing. We did not go up lake on the south shore just wanted to check out house. Things have calmed down here and the wind is calm. Very smoky with poor air quality, but the power is back on and there are more firefighters pouring into the county every day. Sunset before the Twisp fire blew up More costumes, less uniforms! |

I heard that they have been asking civilians that are experienced heavy machine operators to come help. While in Chelan we saw Taylor's tree and logging service in the apple cup cafe. They had some kind of giant tree cutting/winch machine on a wide load trailer. Also on the way home saw lots of big excavators and such coming over the pass.  Sempervivum for Sale |

| We have firefighters from all over the world here now - Canada, Australia, New Zealand. I saw a cool video of some firefighters from South Africa who are up in B.C. They got in a circle and did this kind of chant and dance thing, all dressed up in their yellow shirts and green pants before they headed out. How do we get the dancing firemen?! I think it's great that they are making it easier for civilians to help out. Lots of people around here are experienced, own equipment, and are dying to just help out anyway they can. I think they have some kind of program going now that helps people get their red card faster with some kind of quickie refresher course if they have some experience as well. More costumes, less uniforms! |
