Betty, it couldn't be a proliferation that snapped off during shipping, since it was wrapped up with the other one in a rubber band. Whistling Very nice that you got a prolif though! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

I still think it's a prolif, and you can see where the scape continues on above it. Maybe that was all that the sellerl had left... don't know, but contacting them is the only way to find out. I'm sure they'll make good on it if you're disappointed.

Hello everyone

I received a polite tree mail from an ATP member asking the identity of the vendor and this was the meat of my reply:

"I understand your interest and appreciate your promise to maintain secrecy. Unfortunately if I reveal the name to everyone who asks I end up telling everyone. At this point, I feel as though until I receive a reply from the seller I cannot in good conscience reveal a name. I hope you appreciate my position."

Of course folk are interested and following the valuable advice of those posting above I have sent the photo to the vendor.

Everyone makes mistakes (I have to use scientific notation to keep track of mine) and as I indicated this vendor is held in high esteem. I would hate to taint that reputation without allowing for a reasonable response. I hope everyone understands.

Thank you.

Charley

I agree with @Betja that my first thought when I saw it was that it was a proliferation. I'm always looking for them on my plants. I would be interested in what the seller has to say about it.

My point was only that it wasn't a prolif that broke off during shipping, since it was attached to the other fan with a rubber band wrapped around both. It very well could be a prolif, but it was cut off the scape before shipping. Otherwise, it would have still been loose in the box. That isn't how it was described though.

Charley, several of us knew who the seller was right away, without even having the name, because of the way the plants are tagged. Or, we have a good idea, since I have no idea if others do their tags the same way or not. Right away though, I figured that I knew who it was. Don't worry about the name though. Even the best of sellers can have issues. If this is who I suspect it is, I have nothing but good things to say about them, but that is from my own experience. Whoever is doing the digging and shipping should have been well trained though, and I would think that it was an employee who did this, and not the seller himself. If this isn't made right, you need to let others know, because a good reputation in this business is important, and no one wants to buy from someone who does this on purpose without caring about the quality of their plants. I think it will all be okay in the end, and you will have a good resolution. That is, if it is who I think it is. I'll hope for the best, either way!

Contact the seller, I bet they will make it right. If you have a big business it is hard to keep tabs on every box that goes out. I would email this picture to them.

From looking at the picture of the daylily one can clearly see where the crown was sliced to get another fan. So it's not like this didn't have another fan attached at some point....Many seem to know who the seller is (I don't), but I agree with Charlie. Let's see how this turns out after the seller responds...There have been cases where a once reputable seller due to a multitude of reasons (aging, illness, personal or personnel problems) seems to decline in the quality of service provided over the years. I can think of one in particular that has made a precipitous drop from when I first recommended them 10 years ago. But everyone deserves a chance to make at least a couple of mistakes without being reported on IF the mistakes are corrected ..........Maryl

I'm sorry I don't follow this forum due to limited free time. I've talked to Charlie and we have this resolved. My employee had lost the second fan and Charlie was only given one fan with a tiny side increase. We will certainly see that it is reshipped tomorrow correctly. BTW, if you EVER have problems with our plants we are as close as your phone 1-800-522-3198 to resolve it. We want you to be happy with our stock.

Bill and Marilyn - Thank you for taking time out of your very busy schedule to post here on this forum. I am impressed that you did so!

I have heard so many compliments about your daylily nursery that I actually placed a small order yesterday partly out of curiosity and partly because you had 2 cultivars that I have been interested in that were priced VERY reasonably on your website. That order is my last effort to acquire actual daylilies this year. (I mainly sow and grow seeds.) I look forward to receiving my order!

Thank you for listing your phone number should anyone ever need to contact you about an order! For me, that is awesome customer service! Thank You!
